Not speculating whether he will or will not be our next HC bc I genuinely have no fricking idea or "inside sauces" as to what Woodward is doing or thinking. But the way some people have gone out of their way to try to "prove" that he's not a good coach or hasn't accomplished anything really baffles me. Did Napier sleep with some of these dudes wives or something? Just don't understand why some people get so bent out of shape about him when he has proven himself to be a solid coach with limited resources at UL.

Lane Kiffin could be the coach at UL, they'd still hate him.

Everyone on this board is a former P5 AD who has conducted numerous coaching searches with tremendous success. How the hell did you get in here?

Why do we have LSU fans that are insecure about UL?

This is like 50th thread about this topic. Let him go to Texas Tech. LSU fans are the only ones high on him as a HC candidate.

Because this board is under the belief that LSU will hire , Saban,Dabo, Kelly,Kirby,Riley,Tomlin,Belichek, and everyone else is not up to LSU’s standards

The better question is

Why are some on this board obsessed with him?

I haven't seen anyone go out of their way to prove he's not a good coach. You can't. But his lack of true coaching experience at a Power 5 school gives some people doubts about whether he is better than other candidates.

I wouldn't take my little brother's girlfriend unless maybe she was a 10. Napier is not a 10 - more like an 8.

His team just struggled to a 1-point win against a 1-5 Ark State team last week.

And should've lost South Alabama.

Doing well in the Sunbelt is not that hard.

We should be able to do much better and get a proven winner from a Power 5 conference rather than go slumming in the sunbelt

"One of us" has seriously screwed up everyone here, and you can't explain to them that UL is literally his only venture into Louisiana as a player or coach.

If this is the case why had the previous handful of coaches at UL suck balls? I’ll hang up and listen. You act as if you should just win double digit games at UL and it should be a cakewalk.

Coaches sure seem to have struggled with it in the past in Lafayette.

1. No P5 head coaching experience.
2. Not a great OC so one side of the ball isn't locked down like a Kiffin/Aranda/Fickell/Riley.
3. By most accounts, even ULL fans, he isn't an elite gameday coach. Not bad, but he makes some boneheaded calls.

We could do worse, but we could do better.

I wouldn't be upset though. He is an elite recruiter, very cerebral, and seems to be a solid program builder.

What’s more ridiculous is the people who think he’s more worthy of this job than the likes of Lincoln Riley, Franklin, and even Dabo Swinney all of which have coached massive programs in this country successfully yet, somehow someway Napier is more qualified and a better candidate. I don’t hate Napier. He isn’t in my list of top 10 candidates at all, he may end up being a great coach one day, but yeah, coaching ULL to being a respected team in that awful conference doesn’t make you a quality candidate to coach a top 2-3 program in the entire country. He is such a unknown wildcard and not many would even know who he was if he wasn’t down the road from Baton Rouge which makes him the riskiest name being brought up. Woodward isn’t firing Orgeron and paying that kind of money snd handing his future as an AD over to Billy Fukin Napier.

Because he is a 42 year old up and coming coach. Has a good record at school, that hasn't pumped out10 win seasons. All he while doing it with paying assistants at the most 350k. Has graduate assistants coaching key positions. I know two oc’s at power five schools that would work for him any day if he was to get the job. Players love him, coaches love him. A tireless recruiter, while at Bama got Cam, Hootie and those guys from the Monroe area. At the time was a big get. UL is starting to get some guys in the league. Has turned levi lewis into a serviceable quarterback. Turned down two for sure sec jobs. The two most realistic names on the board are Napier and Aranda. I would choose Napier, just to have an offensive minded coach, and his recruiting ties to the state. First choice would be Lane, but off the field is still a mess.

Lol. I’m not going to argue that Napier is or is not a good recruiter but bama and nick Saban are the reason those guys went to bama.
