What are the chances that A&M fires Sherman?

I can't tell if there is legitimate smoke or just wishful thinking.
How does A&M's squad look for next year?

This was A&M best squad since RC days and see where they're at? They need to find a new coach that understands what they're about to be thrown into to.

.00001% he gets canned

Chicken, I don't think the Aggies can afford the money they have to pay to leave the BIG 12 and a $6 Million buyout of Sherman. Their program really doesn't have that in their reserves. I don't think they do.
I suspect they are willing to give Sherman a season or two in the SEC.

He has to be done after next year. A CapOne or Cotton bowl type season could possibly save him.

Maybe they will check out the coach of that team that just won the WAC after his second year.

I think they give him one more year. Moving to the SEC and breaking in a new coach at the same time won't be fun.

sounds like he's gonna get one more year but is gonna have to make major staff changes.

Money is only part of the issue.
It seems that the higher ups are at war with each other in terms of the confidence they have in him. Byrne and others are saying he should stay while Loftin and some BOR members as well as a few previous coaches are arguing that he should be fired. All of this is garnered from "inside" sources so take that as you will (including Jeff Toole who was recently ousted on texags). Needless to say an institution has to agree 100% on stay or else it's time for the big ol boot.
The fact that no one has come out publicly to either condemn or support him speaks volumes. Nothing will happen however until the regular season for everyone is over at the bare minimum. Possibly not until early january when all the bowl games are over and we can freely poach another school.
I personally do not support him but he's got a really good recruiting class coming in and I think if we fired him it would add even more uncertainty to an already uncertain time.

agree. sherman has some weaknesses that will be mega-exposed in the sec (they already have been in the big 12). even though they have a highly rated list of committed prospects it seems that they lose some of those every year. it has been my observation is that sherman approaches recruiting like a commissioned salesman, quantity first. when he first started, he took all of committments early and saved no room for the blue chippers. imo, he's a solid coach from the x's and o's standpoint but he's just not good enough overall to make it in the sec. a&m is at a crossroads right now and they need to take advantage of being in the sec recruiting wise. of course, as an LSU fan, screw them.

we will probably keep his sorry butt and he will be forced to hire an OC. Sad thing is I really don;t think that will help as IMO its his entire coaching philosophy that is in question, not just his offensive play calling.
IN fact, I am betting all he does is promote QB coach Tom Rossley to OC (and #1 puppet) since he held the same position under Sherman in Green Bay.

I honestly still think its 50 50.......no doubt there is an internal struggle going on, but I think anger is building about this past season, not subsiding.
I also don't think A&M is as "broke" as some would lead you to believe....even some Aggies.
It's simply a matter of a few checks being written. Every school has guys with the power to do that. LSU, A&M, Texas.....A&M is not Sam Houston State.

how on earth is aggie gonna make the Cap One bowl next year?
hell they are 6-6 in a lesser conference.
the SEC would have to bless them with the easiest schedule possible to get that done.

They're nuts if they don't can him now. Year 1 in the SEC is going to be bad enough, but to have the excuse of having a new coaching staff will give them a little leeway with recruits.

Plus the going rate for a name coach would be an additional 3-4 million a year. I think he will get one more year.
The were so close in so many games, reminded me of LSU in '98.
Ok State, Texas & Arkansas were a 1 point, 2 point, 3 point losses.
Kansas State was in 4 OT & Mizzou was in OT.

I started a thread on TexAgs a few days ago asking about this and it got deleted after about 8 posts. I think Shermam is in over his head and will be gone in 10 days.
