We don't learn our lesson

In 2015 news leaked of Jimbo Fisher being a "done deal". Everyone was saying it whether it was online or in person and it picked up steam, went national, and put Jimbo and LSU in a tough spot. Fell through.
In 2016 Tom Herman was a "done deal". It leaked and hit espn. UT fired Strong that night and we end up with O.
Earlier this year Freeman was a "done deal" as the DC. Didnt work out. There were a few more that were "done deals" on here and in the media and then we end up with - as O called him, our "4th or 5th choice".
In baseball. KOS... "done deal". Bianco... "done deal". Pat Casey was a "done deal" and it went national. Remember all of the insiders with "its McDonnell"?
Guys, if right now with 2 weeks left Riley is a "done deal" - he's not going to be our coach. Lets pretend that its true and they came to some agreement or memo of understanding today. The fact that it gets out and blows up with 2 weeks left to go does not bode well for us. Puts Riley in an awkward spot and opens the door for him to negotiate and remain at OU.
Its not a "done deal" until the contract is signed and he's on the plane. Even a memorandum of understanding does not mean a thing. But this board is gonna do its thing.

Scott wasn't here for the Jimbo/Herman bullshite, have some faith in the guy because there's absolutely something going on behind the scenes with Riley.

So your suggestion is for the Coaching Changes board to not discuss the coaching change so that it’s easier on the guy who could potentially get paid $12+ MM to finish out a couple more weeks of football?

He was here for 50% of the examples I showed. But it's not about Scott, it's about the fan base magnifying news leaks before the ink is dry and putting that coach in an awkward spot with his current employer.

Even if it's true today, we're a long way away from the finish line. These deals can change over the course of hours, not days.

Nah not really. Discuss away. Just understand that recent history shows the "done deals" this far our are either smokescreens or they fall through. But by all means, start threads predicting Riley's staff. Im just saying we do this over and over.

We tend to overrate this. Whether it’s public knowledge or not, the right people on both sides have the knowledge to either allow or try and blow the deal up.
Message boards have no real effect on whether this happens or not

Lol don’t blame you a bit man. This place is an emotional wreck right now in so many ways. Hoping we can pull him but I’m saving my excitement for now.
