Was Riley really offered by LSU?

If rumor is to be believed that LSU offered 12.5 million a year to Riley and Riley chose USC over LSU then conventional wisdom says USC offered more and I can't see this. USC has never showed this kind of commitment before. Opinions?

never heard it as fact from anyone with merit. Beginning to think LSU's name was leaked by Riley's agent to keep the heat off USC.

He was probably offered, but turned it down. He's scared of the SEC, that's why he left OU before they made the switch. He would rather coach in the weak arse Pac-12.

Woodward probably contacted his agent to see if there was any interest. (Because he should have been contacting multiple coaches even if he thought he had his guy) He was probably already having his agent talking to USC. Everything we heard beyond that was driven a leaked by his agent in order to get him the most he could out of USC. The amount of actual interest Woodward had in Riley? Who knows. The fact that Woody was apparently duck hunting this weekend instead of sitting ready for contract signing seems to indicate he was not pushing as hard for Riley as we were “told”.

My guess is LSU guaged Riley’s interest but he was already committed to USC and Reily’s people leaked the LSU rumors to keep the USC deal quiet.
He never had an offer from LSU.
