Was Herman the problem or is UT the problem

He was a really good coach then became mediocre at UT last year. That 2019 game in Austin was scary. I felt like we couldn’t stop them at times

He lost games he shouldn’t have at Houston. I don’t know where the really good coach part comes in.

Texas hasn’t been successful since Mack Brown, personally think Texas is the problem, not Herman.

The problem at Texas is known.
They have too many chefs (donors/money men), one kitchen (program).

It’s mostly UT. Herman had them in recovery mode and it wasn’t good enough. They really feel like someone should come in there and just win everything immediately. Similar to LSU but they’re even more delusional and that program is in much worse shape than LSU at this point.

He beat two different teams ranked in the top 3 while at Houston. That’s probably where the good coach thing comes from. Smh

He was ranked at 6 and lost to Navy.
Navy.
Blown out by a bad SMU team the same year.

Herman is overrated but UT has huge issues.

So do you judge Saban based on his lost to UAB or his winning a championship?

Pretty well documented that UT donors is what kept Saban away. If even he thinks he can't keep them from meddling, no other coach has a chance.

Herman was doing a good job at UT. Lost some he should not have, but his real downfall was that recruiting began to unravel.

Herman and UT boosters deserved each other.

The UT program is garbage and has been for some time
The boosters will not let a coach run the program

His real downfall was trying not to allow the Board of Regents to run the football program.

Herman's recruiting was atrocious. People just look at the rankings and think he did a great job, but it was unbalanced as hell. He loaded up on WRs, DBs and neglected OL and DL.

Herman is a good coach but he was a straight fricking mess off the field. He rubs a lot of people the wrong way and made bad staff decisions, Jeff Traylor wanted nothing to do with him.
With more maturity, he could potentially end up being a homerun for someone down the line. I think we should've just upgraded position coaches and kept Herman.

His MO was his teams lost to teams they shouldn’t. At Houston, they managed to beat OU, and then lose to the likes of Navy and SMU. That continued at Texas.
