was coach O actually told he was auditioning for the HC job?

when Alleva asked him to take over as interim was he told he could get the job or is this just an assumption by everybody on here?
I mean, if LSU beats Florida and the Aggies convincingly that would present quite the conundrum wouldn't it?

Surely not, but what's concerning to me is when alleva told O after the mizzou game..."that's one down..."

Wasn't it brought up by either O or Joe during the first PC?

I'm not sure, but "auditioning" can mean a lot of things. It would basically mean he's auditing against other candidates as well. That doesn't mean he has to win a certain amount of games or anything.

He was approached after Miles was fired and asked to be interim head coach. CEO indicated that he would do it, but only if he was seriously and fairly considered for the permanent HC position.
Avella assured him he would be fairly considered for the job if he did well.

If he wins out I pretty much think he will expect the job. if he doesn't get it, I hope he gets something. like a big raise. something to keep him as the head recruiting guy. I think we need him.

I mean what is said behind closed doors and what is said in a PC can be drastically different. I don't know for sure what was said, but i would hope Alleva told him if you have a good season AND we miss out on some of our top guys we will see. Then PR made that in to he is auditioning.
To me, it's a good way to sell it to the media. O looks good for other potential HC jobs (or gets a justifiable raise at lsu), AD looks good, and it keeps the team focused. I don't think he should be perm hc but alleva picked the right guy to keep the team focused and energized.
Who really knows, but i just have to believe (for my own sanity) Alleva was honest and said LSU is a top football program and we're gonna get a top guy. If that, doesn't work out and you do well then we can take a serious look at you.

I guess my wording was wrong.
Auditing for the job doesn't necessarily mean they won't consider other candidates. He's done well, but there are other candidates to consider along with O and what he's done this year.
Now if they told him flat out "If you win X amount of games the job is yours.", that's a little different.

Can you prove any of this? You're stating it as fact, but i have a feeling this is just a guess, like mine.
Eta: why would O be able to call the shots in that convo anyway? If O was making demands Alleva could've just as easily said frick you and went to Aranda.

I can't prove it physically, but I'm seriously not BS'ing you with this.

Like you're saying you have a "source" that told you this? I don't know shite my post was just my opinion. Are you saying yours is a fact from a source?

I thought either O, Alleva or some media type said it?

We don't know what he told O. Alleva did say on a radio show that if his success warranted consideration, that he would have as fair of a shot as anyone else interviewing.

No.

Does anyone have any proof of anything on here or is all that just speculation. I mean there is a lot of people on here talking like they were in Alleva
S office when O was asked to take over.
There is one thing about speculation anyone can do it and it's usually wrong.
Alleva would have to be F'Kinged to hire O. That's the only way. Why? He would not have beaten any exceptional or team worth a shite by the end of the season because of the injuries to other teams or their poor defenses. Bama is the only team that's worth a shite and the offense gained 125 yards and 5 first downs which is what Miles did in the 2011/2012 NC game... let that soak in. ..

I think it's pretty simple. Even if Alleva said "O will be fairly considered if he does well", that does not mean "O will be the only one considered if he does well". There's nothing that puts Alleva or LSU in a situation where they'll be forced to hire O. That's ridiculous.

This was exactly what was announced during the transition. The assumption was that O did not want to be treated like he was in cali, and only took on the role with the assurance that he was in the running.
