I see a lot of comments about the intelligence of O making a public statement.

I don’t see it as a negative but rather a positive.

O is saying we want a coach publicly because of that coaches ability. That coach decided to be a puss. Not O’s fault. But now we can save time because we want a Coach that will run a scheme in line with a 4-3 to a 3-3-5.

If Coach O hires someone way off on scheme then he is an idiot.

Him saying it makes NO difference. He isn’t asking girls to prom. He’s asking them to coach with a $2m check. They don’t care if they were the second choice. People on here are fricking stupid and rail on O every chance they get.

The newest obsession is that “we have no backup plan” like they have a seat in the room and know what’s going on behind the scenes.

So the guy is a puss for choosing somewhere else? A school that just made the playoffs for that matter? A school where the DC hired just last year was fired already is automatically better than that?

Some of you fellow LSU fans are utterly delusional, but my guess you are either more of an O fan than LSU fan or just one of he and DPs paid shills.

Either way, your take reeks of patheticness.

Stop with this bs. The guy is from the Midwest, coaches currently in the Midwest, and obviously wanted to keep his family in the Midwest. You can’t blame him if he used LSU to leverage a higher salary at ND.

How many DC out there run a 4-3? You have idiots on here saying Pruitt, muschamp they run 3-4.

How do you include 4-3 and 3-3-5 in the same sentence. We don't have the personnel to run a 3-3-5 as a base

No one disputes that O is one of the best recruiters in the nation. Whatever he does, it works.

Muschamp runs a multiple defense. He has both 4/3 and 3/4 looks. He has more recently done more 2 gap 3-4 style but has experience in multiple defensive schemes.

What makes you think LSU can't run a 3-4 right now? You realize they probably fit a 3-4 better than a 4-3 right now? The only major issue would be at ILB. Someone would have to emerge there. Outside that, they're setup for a 3-4. Most of the guys on the roster right now were recruited for it at LB/DL.

I don't think the 3-4 guys are off the table for DC just looking at LSU's personnel.

A lot of people dispute that O is one of the best recruiters. Has he really recruited that much better than Les Miles? No. He had to give a job to the uncle of his best recruit to get him to sign this year.

Coach O’s pitch to get the head coaching job was that he would hire the best coordinators and coaches

He has yet to make a single coach in line with this philosophy. Brady turned out to be a savant; but no one knew who he was before he was brought aboard.

After a 5-5 season, O is backed into a corner and has to nail these hires. He just grabbed an OC who has never called plays before and he whiffed on his self-described first choice for DC.

This is all O’s fault and he’s showing what a poor program manager he really is.

I don’t blame Freeman one bit for not wanting to work for a guy who is barely holding things together.

How many 3-4 NT’s do we have on the roster? I realize not everyone uses the DL exactly like Aranda in a 3-4, but still seems like size at that position might be a concern.

Dude, that’s the one criticism you can’t lodge against either O or Miles—that they aren’t elite recruiters.

Not saying he is a bad recruiter. Just pointing out that he has not been anymore impressive than Miles. LSU recruits itself. Louisiana is a hotbed for football recruits. They grow up wanting to play for LSU.

It may have been his wife that made the decision. When it comes to uprooting family, coaches have often talked about it being the whole families decision.

Know how I know you didn’t watch a single Cincinnati game this year and have no idea about Freeman’s defensive scheme?

59% of O's current recruits are from out of state.
