Texas tech will have to pay if they want him.

Stupid decision by him but great news for UTSA.

Why? Tech and UTSA are piers now

Look at what's happened to Seth Littrel. When you're a big name at a G5 program usually it's smart to jump while the iron is hot instead of waiting for the right situation. Especially in a state like Texas that has a ton of competition and ebbs and flows.

Id argue going to Tech right now is at absolute best a lateral move. They are no longer in a power conference, are in a west Texas outpost that you cant recruit to, and are a total rebuild. If the big 12 still mattered Id probably agree with you, but I get leveraging this to get a 1.5 mill raise

Is there horrific flooding in Texas currently?

Tech should hire Kendal Briles

Good move, he’ll be Texas/A&M/OU/Arky next coach in 5-10 years, first job that opens. He just has to keep doing nice at UTSA and can go straight to one of those good jobs
Traylor is a winner

Why? CFP being expanded. UTSA is in one of the top G5 conferences. San Antonio is a great city. He’s making a big chunk of change for a university that won’t fire him if he doesn’t win a national championship. I think there may be more coaches making decisions like this moving forward.

Agreed. It’s hard to maintain success at the lower level.

that would be some substantial flooding

He can do better than tech.
Traylor is on his way up.
He probably just wanted to stay there another year or two.

Salaries inflating so much that UTSA is paying 2.8 mil for a coach is wild
