Just me myself, I'd rather coach at South Carolina than Southern Cal.

If Fickle is basing his head coaching career around “comfort”, he not a coach that USC, LSU, or any major program should want. If the largest unit of measurement to his career plans is regional compatibility for his family, I guarantee you, no one will remember his name 50 years from mow.

Penn State is going to pay Franklin more than Day? Tucker with his new extension?

Day for sure. Tucker maybe.

Ok….irrelevant to whether that school is available anytime soon. In fact, shows it’s even more unavailable

No biggie, like I said, first school to pop into my head.

I saw the Tuesday committee/meeting stuff with Franklin/PSU but didn't read it.

Pretty safe to say the guy that stated OH isn’t in Midwest might be two things; Ole Miss alumnus, bless his heart illiteracy is still frowned upon, and clearly not a geography enthusiast.

I lived in Rocky River and Westlake, OH before coming out west. Moved there straight out of LSU. Pretty sure it’s considered the Midwest, lol christ.

My bad guys

OH = Midwest
PA = not Midwest but sort of similar. NE is better tag.

Normally I just go with "Great Lakes Area". It's whatever.

It's ok. "Midwest" is a historical region, not just geographic. It's kind of like trying to explain to a foreigner why Arizona is not in "the South"

They'll probably hire Kaepernick.

The political environment alone makes USC less appealing. Just my opinion but if I was a multi millionaire whose salary and job security depended on the youth of Southern California....just typing that makes me cringe.

This is incredibly stupid

Fickell is holding out for a Midwest job...Penn St for example.

The school about to extend their coach and make hike the highest paid coach in the conference?

I’ve never understood this “excuse”

How long is he going to wait 10-15 years?

I guess Michigan could open up in a few years

I may end up being completely wrong. It happens.

As both a player and coach, Fickell has only spent one year or so outside of Ohio (was on the Saints' roster for some time).

You're right though, which power school up there is even close to opening? Penn St seemed likely a week ago but I guess they're going to be dumb enough to keep Franklin. Day could leave for the NFL but that doesn't look likely. What happens if Harbaugh beats Ohio St? He'd likely get a new extension after being restructured. Brian Kelly is getting old but they're winning. Michigan St has offered Tucker a crazy contract. I doubt Fickell is saving himself for a Purdue or Northwestern.

Maybe he's comfortable at Cincinnati. He could own the new look Big 12.

Or Fickell might surprise me and take one these openings (outside that Midwest/Great Lakes footprint) this offseason. The Carousel is nuts.

I figure Aranda is going to USC unless he’d rather the Florida job.

ETA: I’d rather Aranda come to LSU but the consensus here seems to be we’re getting Riley.

These are not colonial days and the United States doesn't stop at the Mississippi River. Ohio is east or either middle east.

If Day leaves for NFL...it won't be anytime soon. He has arguably a top 5 job, paid very well, and also can recruit his arse off to keep a powerhouse going.

Maybe just say he wants to be in the Big 10, this will solve the geographic conundrum.
