I'm gonna go ahead and say that USC never contacted Saban. I'm gonna say that they never contacted half the people they said they did. It seems to me like that info would've leaked much sooner and not come from USC's side. They are making up stuff to pacify their fanbase because they made a piss poor hire.

we didn't know about Sumlin being contacted til maybe 1 day before….
and the guy has Jimmy Sexton as an agent…. dude didn't clientele like Saban by happenstance… he's a pro, and knows if his high profile client in the middle of an unprecedented run needs secrecy, he'll get them secrecy….

- Texas reached out to Nick Saban's agent last year.
Regardless of Jimmy Sexton, this kind of stuff leaks. And, it would've leaked if they contacted him. It also would've leaked if they had contacted any other coach that is good. They didn't.
