You’re missing the point. Yeah the TAF handles a lot of the money side but LSU football still operates under the LSU system which is a public institution. The coaches are university employees, the contracts go through the state board, and the program represents Louisiana in front of the whole country.
When the Governor gets involved it isn’t about who cuts the check, it’s about accountability and image. You can call it private funds all you want but when the state’s name and reputation are tied to it, it’s fair game for the Governor to step in.
That’s leadership. Not hiding behind technicalities while the program goes off the rails.
