And considering expectations are tied to past productivity, underwhelming = bad

Underwhelming and bad are not the same.

Underwhelming means “fail to impress or make a positive impact on (someone); disappoint.”

Bad means “having a harmful effect on.”

No effect is not a bad effect. Steve would not be harmful. Canada’s hire impress but produced little to no effect. Steve’s hire would fail to impress and likely produce little to ni effect on the offense. Whereas, a bad hire would produce worse result than the status quo.

O will not retain his job if the status quo is maintained.

I'm not so sure 8-9 wins gets O fired. Seems like the same rules that finally applied to Miles aren't there.

Alleva will give O a super long rope because it means his arse is getting canned too.

I actually liked a lot of what Ensminger did last year and he seems to be a good recruiter but I would have gone a different direction.

It is hard to disprove a negative. I dont like the move and think O’s contract should be voided on the basis of fraud because we were told He would get an explosive OC.

What if O insisted on Briles? Further, he insists on Briles and refuses to help find anyone else. What is your response? Give in? O is holding all the cards?

Tell the administration to grow a spine and say no.

As I understand there were 2 spots available. ST coordinator will take one. Old man Sullivan takes the other. Canada leaving gives us one more spot. Some have indicsted that arranda wants another coach.

Sorry bud, but you are just dead wrong on this one.

Ensminger as OC last year feasted on terrible defenses. When it came time to scheme against Bama and UF the offense did jack shite.

This hire will not get us to Atlanta. If it cant do that, then whats the point?

LSU needs a HC with coordinator experience.

Well that’s a given. And the OC will definitely be someone with OC experience.

Nothing would surprise me anymore.

Normally, I love your insight. You seem to be one of the few that have true insider information when it comes to this board. But here I have to downvote you (for the first time I might add). Not hiring an elite OC is unacceptable in my mind.

The thing is, even though a great deal of us HATE O as the HC and the fact that he was hired to begin with, we still want LSU to be competitive and win championships. Hiring Ensminger all but guarantees that doesn't happen.

Of course there are silver linings. You know, like O practically sealing his fate and all. I am just really getting tired of being embarrassed of the program I grew up loving and the school I was lucky enough to go to.

O went 6-2 in the SEC. Miles hasn’t sniffed 6-2 in conference play since 2012

I don't blame Ensminger for Florida. Guice lost that one. Fumbled in the red zone and ran the wrong damn way on 4th down. They went up and down the field but also missed a FG.

Bama the OL got dominated and Etling looked overwhelmed. Blame him for that but I give him a pass for UF.

Bottomline is LSU fan base want the young gun that is fast tracking. Ensminger and Sullivan are NOT bad hires!!! They would just be underwhelming for a fan base that want the hot shot.
i don’t want a hot shot

I want a good OC

If we hire Ensminger we have a OC that really doesn’t want the job and he isn’t being sought as an OC any where

There is a big ol world of OCs that aren’t Briles or Ensminger

We didn't fire Les, waiting to unleash the offense with all this talent, to hire SE.

This is where I'm at.

Replacing the Head Coach and OC for poor performance with the DL coach and TE coach is just ridiculous to me.

It could work... Nah.

So, we have to hire Steve now or poor Steve is out of a job? How about hire an elite OC and keep old man Sullivan on the shadow staff? He's only coming as a package with Steve, right?

Not pumping, just saying that Miles was mostly fired for declining conference record.

Do you know Steve? The guy is brilliant. Just because you choose not be an OC doesn’t mean you cant. Steve does know his stuff. It would be interesting to see how Steve runs his O with full autonomy and a year to prep.

Every other team has smart guys too TBL.

The difference is they've been OCs in today's game, Ensminger hasn't been. You can't just pick up the job and do it as well as everyone else.

What is his competitive advantage? Being smart is a minimum prerequisite, not something that gives you an edge.
