Well that’s a given. And the OC will definitely be someone with OC experience.

Any chance O gets run off next year? Or is he guaranteed at least thru 2019. I know the 3 year rule is kind of unwritten, but he seems to be botching this at an amazing clip.

I agree. I don't think any animosity should go towards E for taking the job it should be directed at the higher ups.

This is what so many LSU fans don’t want to know. But it’s spot on.

When has he proven it? What's his offensive scheme? Whats his run/pass split?

Perhaps he is brilliant, but you are making a complete guess. Not an educated guess either. You have exactly ZERO data to suggest SE is a good OC.

Just like trusting O because he 'changed from his Ole Miss days'. There is no basis for it, besides 'hope and dream'.

Its a high risk/low reward hire if there ever was one.

Steve would still be brilliant as a position coach and we'd have a second, even more brilliant OC if O and Alleva do what they promised.

What if arranda wants another defensive coach? They aren’t firing ensminger.

This would be a safe hire for O.

Only if his goal is to get his buddy a big payday so they can both paddle off in the pirogue to retirement!

bullshite. That logic was absolutely wrong. And also in direct opposition to his philosophy and what he said when he was the interim.

Orgeron is at best a shameless promoter and at worst a charlatan.

This idea that all the fans want a big name is a fallacy

This, for certain.

A big name is obviously more desirable, but a fresh, forward thinking offensive mind with a high ceiling and floor would satisfy nearly every one of us.

Since when was Ensminger going to be fired if he didn't make OC? Explain how there are now too many spots on the offensive side of the ball.

If Aranda wants another coach give him that coach and fire the weakest link on the staff and place him on a shadow staff. If that person happens to Steve, it really undercuts your argument that he should be permanent OC, don't you think?

Mickey will more than likely be on the staff. Moved to TE/ HB coach

how does compare to the probability of LSU losing in regulation with ND starting on their 25, down by 3, with 2 min left

lower, probably a good bit lower. I don't have the stats in front of me but it's pretty obvious that it's far more likely ND gets points from their 25 than their own 1 inch line. And that's assuming we didn't get it. In which case an ND TD only ties us.
Yeah, calling offensive plays in shadow of your own goal, in a tied game with 2 minutes left, things are different. A sack or a hold gives the lead and the ball to the opponent, so passes are risky. Very likely to be running inside to get some room, most likely playing for OT unless you get a big breakout.

At the 25, you're in business.

Do you know Steve? The guy is brilliant. Just because you choose not be an OC doesn’t mean you cant.

This settling, “safe” mindset makes me think you really are in the know at LSU. This seems to be a shared trait amongst all the higher-ups. Pure scared chickenshit.

Let’s settle on our DL coach as HC
Let’s settle on our old QB coach as OC

Is Boudreaux from Cut Off the next Special Teams coach? I feel like i’m in the twilight zone. frick LSU football at this point, amiright? We got our rah-rah guy as headcoach and a bunch of yes-men who coached before our players were even born. All is good.

He's been a horrible hire. Not a good WR coach and did nothing in terms of recruiting N.O. I'm shocked he hasn't already been released.

If we maintain status quo of 8-9 wins, that is bad. I will assume the offense was underwhelming too... so a bad hire.

We didn't fire Les, waiting to unleash the offense with all this talent, to hire SE.

It is hard to disprove a negative.

I dont like the move and think O’s contract should be voided on the basis of fraud because we were told He would get an explosive OC.

Going back to the point made earlier by Scoop and Score - why can't the team just release Mickey rather than Steve? If they are really having a hard time deciding between these two guys how the heck is Steve going to be an elite OC?
