The only candidate that can start securing recruits rn is Napier. Everyone else is busy atm. The playoffs are not ruled out for anyone on the list except someone not in coaching. Except maybe Jimbo. But if the recruiting class is most important that means they’re taking the same route they did with the last search, except with a better coach.

I personally believe they kicked tires on a mountain of names and possibly have settled on securing the class and taking the young hot name.

know a lot will think it’s dumb to hire a coach based on this, but if they keep winning and looking like a playoff team… his chances diminish. LSU brass wants a coach first week of December.

It is absolutely idiotic to hire a coach based on the whims of 18 year olds in one singular recruiting class particularly in the era of openly transferring.

I agree but I’ve heard from my TAF/Gridiron guy that’s what LSU wants. They want someone day 1 closing this class. They feel it’s imperative

I thought I posted this on TD or maybe it was 247 on Monday. Tucker push is losing some steam. His side thinks it’s a bad look to leave yet again for another job. Took lots of criticism for leaving Colorado

Napier?

Here’s the crazy thing… let’s say we were 5 years down the road. Napier had left ULL and had success at say like UNC after Mack. Then he’d be top 2 or 3 for LSU. It’s the optics of going to ULL for your coach. Woodward and the ppl that matter want a big name. Napier to LSU could happen, but you’d need several dominoes to fall

They think the ‘22 class is a foundational piece for a natty.

You know what is fundamental for a natty? An elite coach.

Well………maybe not after 2019, but still, there’s no reason to hire a lesser coach just to save this class.

No that’s not a crazy suggestion in fact it’s the sanest thing said on the board about Napier. That’s the natural progression. It shows he can replicate success and can build/sustain multiple programs.
