First I don’t know if this is ok or not but could we name Frank as linebacker coach. We could hire an analyst with linebacker experience to coach the unit daily and we have Blake do the game stuff with them on the field since he’s done that before

Why not just offer him same pay and an analyst role? Can still recruit on campus. If not say thanks for your service. Best of luck.

Running backs and linebackers both have “back” in their names so yeah, I don’t see why it couldn’t work.

You realize coaches have egos right? He’s not gonna be humiliated and take a coaching job in which he doesn’t actually coach.

Why not just let him go elsewhere? I wish I could name names here without getting my sauces pissed off.

Frank Wilson is not respected by many Louisiana coaches. One coach called him a skimmer, another much worse.

Head coach change time is the perfect time to cut ties.

Frank needs to stay on staff, PERIOD. He's the #1 ranked recruiter in the country per 24/7 recruiter rankings. THAT ALONE deserves him a spot on the coaching staff

He's supposedly not staying unless it's an on-field role and we're not offering him that.

If he won't humble himself to take an off-field job, then we should shake his hand and say good luck. It's clear the interim head coach gig went to his head as far as ego.

How about just let Coach Kiffin handle it

He could be high school relations in the recruiting or AD. There are unlimited jobs they can give. Only limit is number who can recruit players off campus. He could do "Coaching Clinics" down in New Orleans.

Or better yet, make him an analyst and designate him as an off campus recruiter. There are many instances of that precedent being set. We've even done it before. All it takes is a waiver.

A lot goes into that. I dont care if hes on staff or not but its easier recruiting south LA with him. That said, his value as a recruiter, his only calling card, diminishes greatly if he isn't employed by LSU.
So who needs who more? LSU, the flagship, who will get LA kids regardless or Frank, a hapless RB coach whos greatest achievement outside of LSU employment is stealing a future murderer away from us at the last minute or loading up on kids LSU didnt want at OM with Orgerons help? Seems pretty clear Frank is overplaying his hand if the rumors were true. Perceived self worth is far different from reality.
The reality is, if we let him walk, some other school will gloat and celebrate hiring him only to be disappointed when the results dont follow him. Then they'll be wanting him gone because his postion coaching is trash and he isnt bringing in the LA studs. 2 years max.

If he is such a great recruiter, why didnt we have more offensive signees? We didn't have any rbs. We didn't sign a qb. We barely had any o linemen. WTF? Is he really a great recruiter?

Because analyst can't recruit off campus. Plus, he wants to be on field coach.

Analyst aren’t allowed to recruit off campus. He has to be an official member of the coaching staff to do that.

Serious question: how much of that is because he is recruiting Louisiana for LSU? I'm sure he's an effective recruiter, but I'd guess his results are enhanced by the fact that he's doing it for LSU in a talent rich state.

Regardless, the whole 'we absolutely have to keep _________ coach!!!!' is kind of bullshite. Let Kiffin build his staff how he wants, I think we'll be ok if we don't have Wilson or any other individual coach on staff.

Same people who used to swear O had to be coach here for life or he'd go to Bama as D line coach and land every recruit in Louisiana history.

Should put him in that HS relations spot that coach Baglio used to have.
