Pretty sure this has been in the works for awhile. Meaning Mullen being notified wants Urban is done the jobs is yours kinda thing.
love these theories; same reason BG left UF last yr
like the theory is that far fetched. Urban having health issues, already retired once. Mullen having success at MSU while Florida has been struggling on offense since he left.
ETA: Plus he is Urban Meyer's protege

I read a report that Urban told Foley this past weekend that he was thinking of stepping down and that it was finalized yesterday. Its not hard to imagine feelers were put out Sat or Sunday if Meyer was going to step down.

UF with Mullen = no swagga
No swagga means loss of 5* recruits and slide. Mullen at Fla will be a good coach but Fla will not be the same. Will be more like Richt at UGA.

I will not be surprised if Mullen ends up at UF but I would be surpirised if it happened this fast.

Thats dumb. Mullen was putting together a helluva recruiting class at State for Feb...It wouldnt be hard for him to get recruits at Fla- shite, I could recruit to Fla

I think Meyer and Fla approached Mullen last year and to prevent Mullen from looking like a total douchebag agreed to hang on for one more year. It's definitely Mullen's if he wants it. He would be crazy to turn it down because it will be that difficult every year to get MSU to those 8 wins when your in the West with Bama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas - you might dominate Ole Miss but that would be the only west team you would dominate. At Fla, your only competition is Tenn and UGA, USC every blue moon.

I think he might be a good hire but people need to quit actin like he's a lock to be a good head coach, even though he is a pretty damn good head coach at Auruburn
Man, F'n Kige Ramsey would be a hot commodity coach if he had Cam Newton and the oline that AU had this year. Has Gus proven to be a recruiter? What has he proven other than his coaching looks night and day different when he has Cam Newton at QB?

Don't discount the historical victory Mullen's troops secured in Gainseville as well.
