Go look up Saban’s record at Michigan State
It wasn’t stellar

Saban's win percentage before LSU - 62%
Campbell's win percentage - 61%

There's a ceiling with these lower-tier P5 teams. He's proven enough IMO.

But ULL lost to Texas and ISU beat Texas so now who do we hire? Sark? See why basing a hire on one game is silly?

So Campbell is nick saban? Hmm seems like when you say that about another certain candidate you get made fun of

Nope, and if that's your takeaway from what I said, you're dumber than I thought.

Saban at Michigan State (little sister school)
1995 6-5-1
1996 6-6
1997 7-5
1998 6-6
1999 10-2

Saban at LSU
2000 8-4
2001 10-3
2002 8-5
2003 13-1
2004 9-3

Campbell at Iowa State (little sister school)
2016 3-9
2017 8-5
2018 8-5
2019 7-6
2020 9-3
2021 6-4

Which school was in better shape when the coaches took over
Which school had the better tradition

I like Aranda and Napier better but will not disparage the man's work

You said look at Saban record, so you are saying Campbell is Saban because he has a subpar record at a lesser school.

There is no denying that matt campbell is a good coach.

I just don't see him coming to lsu the same way i don't see fickell coming.

I hope you're just being difficult because it's quite obvious he was saying these types of school have a cap in terms of how far you can take them in terms of wins/losses.

It would be better to look at it from the perspective of how did that school perform prior to that coach arriving vs what they did after they showed up.

If your gonna go second tier which will probably yield the same results then get the guy that is cheaper. Napier would be cheaper...and no it's not my money I don't care that is just business sense. Why pay more for something when it will yield the same results. But honestly if Coach Zero can win a title at LSU, anyone with common sense can so Campbell would probably do the same here too.

Very good coach, but I’m not going to lie. I’d melt hard if it’s Campbell

What’s his thing?

He’s not an Offensive guy
His defenses are relatively good, but never elite.
His record is relatively good but never elite.

For every big win, he drops a stinker.

No, but he’s proven that he’s not a BETTER coach. 2 seasons ago he was winning 7-8 games per season and was on an upward trajectory. Now he’s winning 7-8 games per season and is plateaued.

I haven't really discussed him on here because of this. Just didn't think he was a real option.

If Riley is off the table, Campbell is in that solid 2nd tier, well above guys like Jimbo, Napier, and Tucker. He's in that "unattainable but would be great" tier like Rhule.

Head says Campbell. Heart says Aranda.

There's an lsu poster that posts a ton with an ISU logo that has ties to ISU and he said Matt is amazing but a huge disciplinary coach. That isn't a negative but we do have players smoking weed and we know how much that rule has fricked us. Curious how Matt will navigate that and recruiting because there's rules constantly broken there.
