So you want to hire a guy who was at LSU over 15 years ago for one year over a guy who was the DC and Assistant Head coach at LSU for 5 years?

So does Ed Orgeron.

I think TD's daily changes for #1 isn't how Woodward is approaching this

Tucker might be the real deal but the OP argument equally applied to Orgeron when he was promoted to first interim HC and then HC five years ago.

Which is to say it's a shitty argument. Tucker has some HC experience but not much winning prior to this season.

Yeah, and in that HC experience he went 2-3, 5-7, and 2-5 prior to this year. More experience isn't better experience. If it were, we would just keep Orgeron, since he has more experience than both. Before you call other "morons," do try to think.

It doesn't matter who the hire is, a vocal portion of this fanbase isn't going to be happy with it.

Some of the reasons for not wanting a candidate are legitimate, others don't really follow any logic when you use the same set of criteria to compare candidates.

Scone really screwed Tucker by saying Tate wanted it to be his legacy hire. Everyone on this board now correlates the two. Dave Aranda was a good DC and by all accounts is a solid HC. He wasn't a " great DC". Tucker was a great DC and by all accounts is a solid HC. When Tucker took over at Michigan State it was in a bigger hole then Baylor was. The big 10 is leaps and bounds better then the SEC this year and way better then the big 12. The people on here that say Mel isn't a good coach is just silly.

No. It’s not, actually. With the exception of Tucker’s NFL experience, their resumes are essentially the same. If you love Aranda, you should be good with Tucker also.

I love him but I do go back and forth on this.

He had some baffling calls (State 2017 whole game, aTm 2018 OT… and I’m sorry but the one I just can’t get past is press man @Bama 2019)

But after OM, he had that defense playing at such a high level. Embarrassed lesser offenses like Arky and aTm (who only outscored the defense 7-2) before a phenomenal 3-game stretch against elite teams with offenses full of NFL talent.

Gun to my head he’s my pick.

I was impressed at how his team came back against Michigan. I would love to see LSU play like that again.

I loved that call. It didn’t work out because Derek Stingley fricked it up so badly, but it was an aggressive call, and that’s what we need to be. Had we played prevent defense, like we did in 2012 and 2014, Saban would have scored a TD in 45 seconds like they did in 2012 (43 seconds) and 2014 (FG to tie in 50 seconds).

There was 97 seconds left in the game when Bama got the ball. If Aranda played a pussy prevent Bama would have been attempting an onside kick with 50 seconds left. If they recovered it LSU would have lost, and we would all be criticizing Aranda for being passive and giving the game away.

No, Aranda did it right. Stay out of the soft prevent by counting on your two superstar corners to stick a WR. They were supposedly “Shut down” corners who “take away half the field”.
