Kind of morbid, but a forward thinking person might think "Jerry isn't going to live forever, and I think the problem is mostly him. So ride the wave and then when the more rational Stephen takes over I'm golden". Otherwise yeah this is spot on... its a good job, but not a good enough job to justify the pressure and everything else going on. And I say that as someone who generally thinks the "Dallas is a shitshow" narrative is pretty overblown.

I’m in Dallas and listen to the local sports radio and Troy has had a segment every week since he stopped playing
I always laugh when people call him a huge Cowboys homer because he is not shy about calling them and Jerry out every week. He’s pretty disgraced of what the franchise has turned into
I remember a couple years ago he said he would be interested in being a GM one day after broadcasting and they asked if he would do it under Jerry and he said absolutely not, he would never work for Jerry

jerry needs to step back. cowboys hc should be the most desirable job in all sports.

I don’t think most former pro and college players are genuinely homers. It is good for their image to at least pretend to be, but their legacy is diminished a bit if better teams and players come along and surpass them.
Being the only national championship QB at Texas or USC (or wherever) in the last 20 years is more significant than being one of 3-4.
