LSU finished four spots ahead of last year and Ensminger didn’t coach 4 or 5 games. This years offense was shite just like last years. But they can’t recruit or coach a QB, until they can you will see the same shite every year. The only thing I saw in this years offense that was better than last year was the Bama game plan. If LSU has Hurts they win the game by more than Bama did this year. QB play has enabled LSU from winning a lot more and maybe two to three more titles since Saban.

Positivity at the sake of a realistic assessment is ridiculous. It's the equivalent of someone pissing on you and then telling you that it's raining.

That was Cam and Les' offense and Ensminger called plays from it.

But it wasn't bad.

It's not stellar but not bad

For those wanting an explosive offense, that's not going to ever happen unless the defense goes to shite. It's always going to be a grind it out, eat the clock regardless of who the OC may be. It's part of a whole game plan

The only problem is that reality is in the eyes of the beholder. Your reality is NOT my own and neither of us are wrong, just very different.

the word you're looking for is delusion. If your reality is that there is anything positive to take away from all of this, you're delusional.

The offense last year was more productive than this year. I mean, I know you hate any hint of positivity but it is what it is

My point is that its completely fricking moot how the offense looked in 2016.

That is not Ensminger's offense.

We shouldn't even be discussing it. We should be discussing his performance when he, in fact, DID install his own offense as an offensive coordinator. It wasn't good.

And Sullivan was even worse.

LSU hired a pathetically unqualified coach to run the program who ran off the OC after just 1 season. Then said pathetically unqualified coach told us that he wanted to promote a position coach to OC even though he has made it clear he doesn't want the job.

I'm sure I missed some stuff.

Lmao

So you’re for hiring Ensminger?

If he’s hired:
Will he permanently use Cam’s playbook or drag his own old one back up? Or will he just try to run that old USC offense O is so fond of, that O forced his Ole Miss OC to run?

Is he one of “the best in the country?”

Will he compete with Bama and Georgia and other defenses with a pulse?

Wait what bias?

I'm just saying that wasn't Ensminger's offense. It wasn't. He called plays from someone else's play sheet for an offense someone else installed.

If people are going to melt over hiring Ensminger as OC (or celebrate it), they should look at this resume as full-time OC, not the half year in 2016 where he called Cam's offense.

That isn't bias. That is just fair.

wait, so you think it's reasonable to believe Steve implemented his own offense halfway through the season?

1. The Ensminger hire (should it materialize) is not the disaster the Negas/Sabanistas argue that it will be. Guy is a highly competent coach. This is not like making Porkchop (who we all love, but is not an OC) the OC.

How do you know this? Steve hasn’t been a full time OC since 1999. That’s nearly 20 years.

What makes you think it will not be a disaster?

What makes you think a near 60 year old OC who hasn’t been an OC this century can recruit and develop 4 or 5 Star QB’s?

No, but he's no worse than Canada

The OC hire will have marginal influence on the record because it's going to be the same style regardless

And I don't necessarily think people want an explosive offense at this point. They just want competent QB play and the ability to score points if we have to. We don't have to have a HUNH offense that tires our defense out. We just need confidence in our QB to move the ball through the air when needed.

We haven't had a competent passing game since 2013*. Its infuriating.
