I'd like a firm NO from Lanning as the step before Kiffin.

We've already received that in the form of his buyout. Its north of $20mm
He won't be leaving Oregon for any job.

Cmon man, on video, when other people are watching… who wouldnt pretend their wife mattered… sure. But we all know, the dude isnt concerned, not really. He will do what he thinks is best, period. Thats what made/makes him the best coach of all time. Bc what he typically thinks turns out right and he trusts himself. At any rate, its Kiffin until it isnt. Everyone wants an answer, but “the truth” is, Verge doesnt even have one. Just signs of acceptance from Lane.

someone posts this summary and explanation thread at least once a day

why do some of you feel the need to explain to us your version of what you think is going on?

I just feel like Kiffin is going to Florida. I would love to have him, but there is just too much smoke. I hope I'm seriously wrong.

I would choose LSU over Florida any day, but it doesn't sound like he is even considering LSU. And I don't know how serious our search committee is even pushing for him other than 1 booster.

Hope I am wrong.

Thank you for caring enough to ask. Since you took the time, I say my bad, I guess… just seems like a bunch of maybe this maybe that, this source, that source… I have a solid grasp on whats happening, trying to do a public service… but my bad. Should I delete it? Can I do that?

there are no sources, all you have done here is post the same speculation that has been posted over and over

the people involved from the LSU side you can count on one hand

and they are not talking

Saban said no, Kiffin has not said anything, there is nothing else to report

So which is it? Nobody knows anything or you know Saban said no?

Last time, it was right about now that negotiation with Kelly actually started and it took a little more than a week. Then they sat on it until after Thanksgiving.

So an announcement is 2 - 2.5 weeks away.

Verge said on MM show that Saban said he is not returning to coaching

then Saban gave an interview and said he is retired
quote:

Nick Saban shoots down any rumors linking him to open coaching jobs: 'I want to stay retired'

Seems pretty clear he is not coaching again

quote:

“You know, I want to stay retired,” Saban said. “I do not want (Jimmy Sexton) anywhere near Miss Terry. Because when she hears some of these numbers, she gets interested. And I’m not interested.”

Pat McAfee then brought up the Penn State head coaching vacancy and how many of their fans were clamoring for AD Pat Kraft to give Saban a blank check. He, however, is not going for that.

“No way,” Saban responded. “I have so much fun working with you (directed at McAfee). Why would I go do that?”

I don’t think Saban is returning but cmon man

Everyone says no exactly like this right up until news breaks. Doesn’t mean shite. Highly selective bias if you’re referencing these comments.

It’s fact. Not a rumor or inuendo.
Obviously, he’s changed his mind before, but as today, it’s a ‘no’.

I’d find it pretty hard to believe that we’re interested in paying a guy 8 figures annually that’s never made a playoff or won any big games of note.

For anyone out there who’s suggesting Drink, you’re basically in belief that the above is possible because he’s already making $9M so it would obviously go up here. .

Can’t see it.

You don’t fire BK with a $50M liability along with assistant buyouts, then turn around and pay a guy like Drinkowitz more than BK.

If you’re willing to do that then you’re getting someone more proven. Like.a Heupel-level coach or better imo. .
