Tom Herman Losses

Please, for everyone criticizing Tom Herman on his 2 bad losses, do your research. Injuries have killed this team all year.
As a UH student, I can tell you that those losses were from injuries and hard-headed players. I am close friends with a few of the starting players. Many stated that other starters were playing injured because they were selfish in thinking that they were ultimately helping the team. In reality, they hurt the team.
UH does not have good depth. After the starters are off of the field, the dropoff in talent is tremendous. Tom Herman is a great, young coach that will bring more to LSU than Jimbo ever would. He's proven he knows how to coach against top teams. Heck, he pretty much singlehandedly beat Bama, and they beat a top 10 OU team (then #3). Give him FSU players and he would easily out perform Jimbo.
These losses weren't from poor coaching. It was from injured players, lack of talent, and poor playmaking abilities. Watch the end of Navy. Our "best" receiver dropped 2 passes in a row in the end zone. That would've potentially tied us or put us back in a competitive position in the game.

I like Herman but there's a lot of hyperbole in your post.

I don't necessarily disagree...but duck.

It was all leading up to this, huh?

I will bet all the money I have as a poor university student that UH will play Louisville much closer with much less talent than FSU. I wouldn't be surprised with a win even.

OP's inner thoughts as he typed the post:

There are no top teams outside the SEC?

Did Miles before he came? What about Saban at Mich St? Herman beat a handful of top 25 teams last year, and he murdered a previously better than current FSU team than this season with worse talent.

I grew up an LSU fan. If Tom Herman is leaving UH, I want LSU to be that school.

I don't think playing 2-3 good teams over 2 years means much. play a tough conference schedule (loaded with great teams)... does any conference compare to the sec west?

beating OU twice is probably a big reason he got hired

beat #1 OSU

it will be about the same score

UH has had 5+ top 25 wins over the past 2 seasons.

We only played 3 good teams this year.
He'll I think we only played 3 good teams last year.

I wouldn't be upset if Herman came. I'm just saying your post had a bit of hyperbole in it. Things like these:
While i agree that Herman is a good coach let's not pretend we KNOW he would do better thab Jimbo (a proven successful coach) or that Urban Meyer didn't assist him. Again, i like Herman. He gets credit for beating bama and he is a great offensive mind. Let's just not pretend we already know he will be better than any already established coach. He's a high risk high reward hire.

Also, the fan base is very important to Herman. UH is still a school with many commuters. Many students only go to games against good teams or when UH is doing well. Don't be surprised when the 40,000 person stadium isn't filled tonight. Tom Herman absolutely hates this. He has publicly criticized the students for being so undedicated as fans. Obviously he wants to coach somewhere with tons of loud and rowdy fans. LSU beats any other school in the country in that category. That pulls more weight for him than many would think.
