To help you folks out with the rumor put out yesterday, please check the link below.

Tom Herman prefers the NFL 12/1/21

ETA: guys, I get it. I’d like for it to happen, too. But right now, this is more reputable than Shuga.

You're own link says...

quote:

Because of how fluid things are in the coaching profession, we’d take these Herman comments with a grain of salt. There’s always a chance he could be lured back to college by the right opportunity.

Absolutely! It isn’t definitive proof, but if the guy says he prefers that league, it’s a better source than a random user on here who claims to know one of the most decorated players in LSU history.

ETA: I’d love a Tom Herman hire for OC; I think we’re all just getting too excited over a troll.

He may very well be; I just wanted to provide another side of the coin.

The problem is he won't have a job with Bears when they fire Nagy

Now, I don't know Tom Herman. However, it seems like it would be pretty stupid for a guy who works in the NFL to say, "Yeah, this kind of sucks. I'd like to leave ASAP."
I'm just saying.

Hey, that’d put us in a good position. I understand people don’t like me being a contrarian here, but I figured it was worth mentioning.

That dude is coming on down to LSU. The NFL sucks baby balls, especially the bears.

Coaches say these things all the time. Case in point, Brian Kelly. Say it would take a fairy godmother to get him to leave Notre Dame.Poof . LSU the fairy godmother appeared. Im sure if the right offer shows up he will enjoy college again as well

Also and more of a tell is Brian Kelly said they are running his offense. The OC is going to be some one not established or that will let him run his style of offensive like his buddy from Cincinnati. A no ego guy. The DC will be the opposite.

I think Herman would be a great hire but I can’t see him taking an OC job without having full autonomy over the offense and I’m not sure BK would give him that.

To the OP (who might be new at this),

The right answer when asked future employment questions is always to love the job you are now doing. You can be more honest behind the scenes.

Hey Willie. Had a few jobs in my day, and you’re right. I’m just providing recent, more reputable evidence than a random user on here that says maybe we shouldn’t put all of our eggs in this basket right away.

It's another smokescreen. And if there's anything this board knows how to recognize right away, it's a smokescreen.

Maybe he isn't coming. Don't think this article is very solid evidence either way.

Personally, if I'm the Offensive Analyst/Special Projects Coach on the soon to be fired staff of Matt Nagy, I'm entertaining other more lucrative and higher profile offers, even if "I prefer the NFL."

This is definitely true. But would you say the article is more substantive than me creating an alter and stating it was a fact? And that the media would get ahold of it 17 hours ago?

good point.

We all have things we'd rather be doing, people we'd rather sleep with, etc.

Preferences take a back seat sometimes.

And they definitely take a back seat when you've been trying to re-establish your "offensive genius" reputation AND you are jobless simultaneously. Not that he would stay jobless for long... but would it be a job that would further the rep rehab.

And the job he is in now ain't getting it done either.
