Trust me, I wanted him, I am not upset at the hire.
This is what I mean when I say half this board didn't even know who he was but wanted him anyway bc he's a familiar name and it was popular on the rant

Everyone that knows him says he is very different from his persona. He is more thoughtful and introspective than people think. So what happened was your image of him didn’t match the reality of who he is. You know as an adult that’s not Lane’s job or problem. That’s for you to work out or not. You decide, because nobody cares about your expectations or mine, lol.

Nope. He’s not the only one.
He looked wildly uncomfortable and spent too much time talking about how difficult it was to leave OM and not enough time talking about and showing enthusiasm for being at LSU. His eyes kept scanning the room like he was looking out for a sniper or something.
I hope he finds his spark for the job soon.

He spoke with reverence about LSU. That’s what I heard.

wow... he was being gracious and humble
two things are true... Kiffin came to LSU because he wants to build a dynasty here and sees the value in what LSU offers
also true that he had real relationships with real people built over 6 years in oxford and it was hard to part the way they did.
You want the guy to come in and not be human?

Well that’s life. It’s not his job to make me or you feel comfortable at his press conferences. His job is to win games. So you will accept him or not. Nobody cares.

You’ve been listening to Kelly and Wilson’s prepared Coach speak for too long.

I thought he handled it very well. He did seem a bit nervous at first but then seemed to hit his stride. He was being humble and gracious to Ole Miss out of respect. Like most of you, I have had to make similar type decisions on jobs (albeit for way less money) and I understand the mixed emotions. I have no reservations about his commitment to LSU.

I am very familiar with his coaching, not his demeanor when it comes to press conferences. Gezz.

Nope, nothing to do with Kelly, personally I think he's a f'in clown when it comes to speaking, have since he was at Cincinnati. Not comparing to anything other than today.

I thought it was outstanding

I think that was my question, or point. Agree with both of what you said, but you can also be human and be genuinely excited and enthusiastic about being introduced as the new HC at LSU. I get maybe his personality is more of an introvert now.

Holy cow, you seriously don't think he has a spark for the job? He wouldn't have gone through the hell of the last week if he didn't already have that.
His demeanor was the same as it has always been. If people really expected him to have a loud, fiery, animated press conference, then they haven't paid attention to him over his career. Despite his reputation, he's mostly an introverted football nerd. I don't think he even had a weekly radio show at Ole Miss.
And he had to address his departure from Ole Miss and answer the questions he was getting about it. It has been the biggest story in sports the last few days. It being "too much" for some people is their problem.

My son grew up with a kid who played for LK at Ole Miss. He said LK is “really weird.”

U serious Clark? Compare that interview to any other football coach that stood at that podium over the last 20 years and tell me he wasn’t a breath of fresh air.
The dude is probably worn the frick out and still a bit shell shocked. Anybody with any humanity would have been wavering on the inside up until the last minute. He just walked away from his playoff bound football team to come coach here. If you were any sort of competitor at any point in life, you’d have an idea of how hard that would be to do, no matter the reward. And your primary thought is “I wonder if the guy even wants the job”?
I’m pretty good at seeing the negative side of things, but good lord man, get a grip.

Have you ever noticed that some of the best people in their professions that are genius level are really quirky, eccentric, lol. They are built different from me and you. It’s part of what makes them successful because they think and act differently.

quote:again what did you fricking watch? He looked in awe talking about how fans actually came out to see them at the airport, then MMR and then by the stadium. He talked about how being a visitor coach gave this heavy pressure feeling when you’re on the sidelines on a Saturday night with the crowd. How he always thought of how awesome it would be to be the coach here being uplifted by the cheers. You’re either special Ed or watched clips.
someone that stands up at the Mic and says "damn I am excited to be here"

He reminded me of Saban. Explaining things without much emotion.
I thought it was a home run. You can tell he knows how to run a program.

It’s ok if you didn’t understand the words coming out of his mouth.
