To the "Win Out and Keep O" fans

Look, I get where you're coming from. I really do. I love Coach O and the energy he's brought to the program in just a day. But he really isn't the man LSU needs long term. Sure, if he wins out and turns this season into something special he does deserve to at least be considered.
The question we really need to be asking isn't who can make this program exciting, it's who can bring this program back to contention in the West. Who can beat Saban, Freeze, Bielema and Sumlin on a consistent basis? I'm by no means saying we need a coach that will win the West every year, but we do need a coach that can be competitive every year. I just don't think O is that guy. I think he'll do good things in the interim, but beyond that, I'm not sure he's the right fit.
It's got to be Herman or Fisher. Anyone else, in my eyes, is a disappointment. Outside of like Saban or Meyer which aren't happening, but you get my point.
Love you rantards, bring on the downvotes!

IF it is O, it has to be at 2-2.5 million/yr for 3 years...after that evaluate, if he works out, then pay him the 5-6.... if not bank the money for the next big name coach... He is not a candidate for any other HC job out there.

It's amazing that our fans can't realize this.
They see that a good ol' Louisiana boy has taken over the program...and subsequently throw all rational thought out the window.
You don't go 3-21 in conference play over three years and then suddenly become an elite head coach a few years later. Being a stand in coach for 8 games with systems already in place isn't the same as being the head coach year in and year out.
The fact that our fans would be "happy" with Orgeron when guys like Herman and Fisher are realistic options is just astonishing.

You are contradicting yourself. If he wins out, he will win the west and the sec championship.

LSU needs a homerun hire. I personally think they'll get one, but we'll have to sweat it out for a few weeks.

If O can win out and win the west, which we would since we know auburn is a dumpster fire and wont go undefeated the rest of the way, then i don't see anyway we don't hire O at that point and time.

I can't speculate on if LSU keep O, but I am pretty certain that the teams on the back end of LSU's schedule are a bit more concerned about facing them due to the fear of the unknown now that Miles is gone.

No LSU doesn't. Programs need that need a homerun hire had recruiting fall off under the previous coach and therefore need a splash to get recruiting going again.
LSU needs someone competent.

You misspelled months. I pray for yall if you think this will get settled in a couple of weeks.

I don't know about months, but I certainly hope the powers that be, though I have little faith in them, take time to see what happens with us over the next month or so while studying the options.

no doubt. they want someone who will be competitive and win the west.
so if coach O wins out then i guess we aren't competitive?

For the "You 'Keep O' People are Crazy" fans...
If he wins out, how is that not signs of a good coach? Is rhe West just going to lay down for O this year? Is there some giant conspiracy to make Orgeron the head coach?
Come on, man. I'm not going to say he should be the guy, but damn, you have to give him SERIOUS consideration if that improbable scenario plays out.
And I really wish people would quit getting hung up on what he did at Ole Miss. For fricks sake, coaches have bad stints. If everyone was still hung up on what Pete Carroll did in the NFL years ago, he would not have been hired by Seattle. Miles was pretty lackluster at Oklahoma State, yet he was hired by LSU.
Give that shite a rest. His most recent stint at USC shows the guy can coach when he lets his staff do their thing and doesn't put a chokehold on the program like he did at Ole Miss. He wanted to succeed so much that he strangled the damn thing by being too controlling.

Yes, it will be months. Today is in September. The earliest any coach yall want will confirm taking the job is December or January (if their team is in the playoffs).
Heck even if the answer longterm is Coach O it will take months of football to determine it. So it will be months, buckle up for a long ride.

Agree 100%.
Coming in half way through a season and firing up your team is COMPLETELY different than being the CEO of a team over multiple years and building a program. Bebe is the right man for the interim job, probably the perfect fit.
That does not at all equal a good long term fit.
I'm am very glad we got rid of Miles, but why they hell would you get rid of him to hire Bebe??? Makes no sense whatsoever.

I am far from a Miles pumper, good sir. I've wanted him gone for 3 years now. I said if he wins out he should be CONSIDERED. Not that I think he should get the gig.

I don't think you realize what it would mean for LSU to run the table. Would have to beat Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, Ark, and A&M. Do you realize how great of a feat that would be? I don't think you do. If it happens (which I highly doubt), but let's say it does- frick yeah hire him.
And then he will hire a real OC for next season because he's not stupid. Hell, he might pull together staff from his USC days. That's pretty much what Kiffin is trying to do at Bama with hiring Sark for a bullshite position.
I want Herman or Fisher, but there's a shite ton of meh after those names. But if O were to win out, shite...

if O can turn things around and salvage the yr as he did with usc, and if he's truly learned from his past mistakes of micromanaging and meddling, then why not? its all about the assistants. if he makes a home run OC hire and keeps our solid coaches on board, why not? what if you make a "home run" hire that brings in shitheads as assistants. we all saw what happened to Dinardo and now to les with poor assistants and stubbornness.
