Im hoping some accountant can jump in here and explain it
It means the LSU Tiger Athletic Foundation is way bigger then the Ole Miss foundation, with more cash, more revenue, more ability to spend what is needed for a top quality coach and team

AI SUMMARY - Both foundations are financially strong, but LSU’s Tiger Athletic Foundation operates on a significantly larger scale than the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation. TAF reports $500M in total assets compared to Ole Miss’ $97M, driven by far larger restricted assets, long-term investments, facilities, and contract receivables. LSU also posts much higher annual activity, with $97.3M in unrestricted revenue versus Ole Miss’ $7.7M, and $60.5M in expenses compared to Ole Miss’ $40.3M, reflecting the broader facility footprint, premium seating operations, and construction pipeline. Net assets show the same pattern: LSU at $310.7M, Ole Miss at $60.8M, underscoring that TAF is a far larger financial engine with more ongoing capital projects, bigger investment portfolios, and deeper donor-restricted resources.

And also, that LSU could pay BK if we wanted to?
eta: I hope we dont... but the media acts like we cant.

Florida and LSU are playing in the big-money leagues while Ole Miss is out here counting couch change. UF runs a $180M+ athletic machine, LSU’s TAF is sitting on a $300M war chest… and Ole Miss is bringing in a folding table with $70M and a dream. It’s like comparing a battleship, another battleship, and a kayak.

Not surprising. What is surprising and sad is that Ole Miss and Florida have bigger endowments.

Judgment aside, we value athletics more.

So comparing Florida, Ole Miss, and LSU’s Athletic Foundation 2023 Audits, because this is the most recent year we have for all but Florida (and I don’t think these statements are too old to get a good idea of financial health), The Statement of Net Assets, basically all the things we own less all the things we owe, and the greater indicator of overall financial health of an entity, shows LSU with $500M in Net Assets, OM with around $70M, and Florida with over $200M. So, at the end of 2023 LSU’s financial health was way more impressive to say the least. On a year to year basis, we look at the revenues and expenses. Between the 3, LSU had a surplus of revenues over expenses by about $36m. Florida, while actually taking in a little more revenue than LSU, way outspent LSU and ended up with a loss in 2023. Ole Miss had way less revenues in 2023 than both, and spent as much as LSU relatively speaking compared with Revenue size, but they did end that year in the black. An entity’s results from year to year go on to either add or take away from their position of net assets. Drilling down even deeper, you notice that LSU’s unrestricted revenues are far higher/greater than both Florida and Ole Miss, which is very important because these are the funds the donors will allow spent on any purpose the foundation sees fit, giving much greater financial flexibility to LSU. Florida and OLE MISS both have fancier more complicated to read sets of financial statements, but when you have LSU’s kind of Financual Results, those speak for themselves.

500m is total assets
310m is net assets

It seems nationally LSU and the brand get the recognition they deserve being listed among the elite
