So we've gone from 10-12 million to 12-15 million in a couple of weeks?
I hope we're not bidding against ourselves, here.
That said, I really don't care.

Obviously it’s an assumption of what would it take to lure Riley here. There’s people on 247 saying OU would match 12 so if we had to go up from there, I’d imagine Woody has the balls to go 15. Just huge money, but like the others are saying it’s not our money who cares get our dude.
It’s just a huge investment that will change the landscape of college coaching salaries.

Great perspective. LSU is paying 10s upon 10s of millions to fire incompetent clowns. Break the compensation record to get the best.

Would you pay 20 or 25 million for Saban or Urban? Of course you would! You pay for the best, no limit!

I have said this several times throughout this coaching search and I strongly believe it to be true: It is almost impossible for a top-tier program to overpay if they wind up with the right guy. If you get the right guy, you go make playoff appearances and win titles and the money sorts itself out. The risk is connected with paying the WRONG guy, not with paying the RIGHT guy too much. We could pay someone $14m per year and it would be cash-flow positive if they make us into a perennial playoff team.
We can afford to pay O $17m not to coach--$15m for Riley TO coach is great value in comparison.
When you are a program with legitimate title aspirations, paying the right guy an obscene salary will always be better in the world of college football than paying the wrong guy an average salary.

Dissolve a lesser athletic or academic program if need be haha. Money should not be an issue when one pursues a white whale such as Lincoln Riley.

Go look at how much money the Bama football team brings to the university

It feels to me like spending a billion dollars on nuclear missiles the year before the Cold War ended.
I think big money college football is headed for a crash.
The Cold War ended 30 years ago and nuclear are still very much in demand

The salary isn’t really an issue. A $20-30 million buyout is.

That’s the direction we’re heading with all of the top shelf coaches. I believe Aranda could be had for less and would be a similar result, however if we got Riley and kept Jones, we’re set. With Aranda we have to find a top shelf OC and also pay for him. Which wouldn’t be difficult, but I digress. Between the two, I want Aranda, but would be very happy with either one.

Just what I posted a week or 2 ago. Riley was offered ~12.5 per and hasn’t said no. He was the top target from the start. Franklin was smoke and SW knew Jimbo was locked in. The Tucker smoke was to appease the university President along with gauging Todd Bowles interest. Gauging Dabo’s interest was legit and I was told that was mutual.

You think if Riley says no then we go to Dabo?

I have no clue. My guy mentioned Dabo a couple weeks ago. I would assume those talks have cooled. Also Brian Kelly is being reported but my guy hasn’t heard much of anything on that front

Literally doesn’t matter. What sets the market today will be below market 3 years from now.
$15m will still be very high 3 years from now.

3 years will be a short time for that to be below market but it will be enough time for TV money to start kicking in which is when all this stuff starts looking like chump change

My guy is Scott Woodward and every time I ask he just smiles and says we will see.
Really going to have to stop cutting his lawn so cheap until he starts giving me some legit info to take back to tRant.

Thanks. I'd think Dabo would be next if he wants it.
