Thoughts on maybe Tuberville to Texas Tech?

Reading through the Tech boards, a lot of their fans seem to be on the Tubs bandwagon. If he were to be hired, I'd be interested to see how successful he could be in Lubbock.

Tech, for starters, isn't Auburn. Tech has never pulled a big quantity of great players like Brown, Williams, Campbell and Rogers. They don't have the same money and history as AU. They don't have the same kind of boosters and fan support. Lubbock is worse than Auburn, Al. On top of it all, Tubs isn't known for being a diligent recruiter. And I don't think Tech has the money to hire an awesome recruiting staff.

Obviously, the preference of those at Tech is that Tuberville would keep the offense in place and instill his defense. Would Tubs be OK with that considering how different his offenses were at AU? Could Tech bring in the players to make the offense and defense successful? Or maybe Tech should go after another offensive mind like Malzahn (apparently Briles' buyout is too pricey).

Also, I think Tech is more comparable to Ole Miss as a program today. Tuberville's record at Ole Miss: 6-5, 5-6, 8-4, 6-5.

I think Tuberville would be a great fit for TT. They will always be ready to play

I hope he stays unemployed, because I want LSU to have a shot at him when Miles is fired after next season.

I could them being consistently 8-4 with more upset wins over Texas and OU. I don't know if he could win the Big 12 though.

Watching how the Tech players rallied around the interim coach last night, I think tuberville is already out of the rimming

TTU isn't even the 3 biggest draw in Texas recruiting...

UT, OU, A&M and LSU are bigger players in Texas..

It's barely in Texas. Lubbock is a shitty town in the Dust Bowl that is at least six hours from every major TX city (recruiting hotbed). Texas, OU and A&M get the first pick of instate recruits and then maybe LSU. Even Okie State tends to get better players out of Texas. Yeah, there is plenty of talent but Tech is at a disadvantage.

They shouldn't make an emotional hire. McNeal wasn't a great DC to begin with. They shouldn't make the "Bill Stewart" mistake.

as long as tuberville keeps the current offensive staff I think he can be successful there. if he brings in his long time auburn staff then I see the current offensive system deteriorating and Texas tech will shift more towards two back or two tight personnel. they were the impetus behind al borges' demise at auburn as well as the unwillingness to fully adopt tony franklin's offense. Nall is a good OL coach, for example, but I just don't see any way that he and the air raid offense could gee haw.

I like tuberville quite a bit as a coach. I just don't know if I would want all of the guys that he is likely to bring with him.

Tuberville will get Texas Tech players fired up. I think this is a good hire, even though I hate Tuberville with my deepest heart.

FWIW, here's a good thread on Tubs on the Tech board. Good input from Auburn fans too, including a couple of warnings about Sexton.

Tubbs is the anti-Leach. Just the opposite. Would be quite a shock for Tech fans.

I doubt that Tech meets Tubs number (and they know that if they don't he will not stay). My guess is that either the interim coach or an out of the blue hire gets it.

tubbs would be tons better for lsu than tt. like the OP said....tubbs hates to recruit. he wouldn't have to do that much at lsu vs tt. he plays the same style of ball as saban does and i think lsu fans would like him.
