Thoughts on Klieman at North Dakota State

I know he is a long shot, but if the Bison win another FCS championship, do you think he is a at least someone to talk with. He's young, he has a good resume in that he's won championships at NDSU, he's beaten teams from the Power 5 in Kansas State and Iowa...at their places.
I know we keep thinking that we can just walk into Louisville or Houston or Tallahassee and say " Tom, Bobby, Jimbo, come on let's go>:\" and they will jump, but what if they don't? What if Orgeron screws the pooch?
He does have his teams prepared.

Do you know who Craig Bohl is?

He likes winning natties. I can go for that.
He's probably better than Miles and Orgeron combined.
Yes, LSU should vet him and talk to him. I would not be sad if LSU hired him.

That program was built by Craig Bohl, the current coach at Wyoming. If LSU was going to go that route, I'd want them to look at him, not the young dude that rode off of his coattails and inherited an already successful program. It's incredible what Bohl is doing with the Wyoming program.

Who is your preferred hire?

I do and I think he is someone as well to talk to. If we go for a Jimbo and he jumps, to me, that only proves he's a whore and it is only about the money since LSU is in reality a lateral move in terms of national stature. We go after Petrino....well, we know he has less than zero integrity....anyone who did what he did to his Falcon team deserves to be shat on .
I'm not that sold on Herman

No. Just...just no. You don't hand an FCS coach the reigns to a Top 5-10 job in the country.

Some people might be turned off by Bohl's age (late 50s), but if he wants a shot at a major program, LSU actually makes some sense.
He wouldn't have to do a major rebuild and the potential to win big right away exists, especially if he can maintain our recruiting level. It would be interesting to see what he could do, for sure.

quote:THAT'S an understatement! LOL That team went from bottom of the barrel shite to dethroning Boise State in the MWC. That is more impressive to me than what Herman has done so far. Houston was already a power mid major when he got there.
Wyoming seems to have made a turn.

If you compare Klieman or Bohl to Mike MacIntyre, I think MacIntyre wins. He turned SJ State around then a Power 5 team, Colorado.
LSU should reach out to, perhaps, all of these guys. Klieman is last choice- for me- among these three because he has only been successful in one place unlike the other two who have proven themselves in two places. Plus, Bohl set Klieman up nicely.

I respect all these guys, but I really hope we hire Fisher and enjoy the next 15 years.

Tressel was a pretty good hire

I like MacIntyre, but at least Bohl and now Klieman have demonstrated an ability to sustain success. MacIntyre left SJSU after his first winning season and this his is first winning season at CU.
Turning around programs (particularly SJSU and CU) is admirable, but I'd like to see him keep it going in the right direction now.

When you put a DC who has never run/built a program ahead of a guy who has........ most rational people would say WTF??? No idea what makes you "know" that Aranda is better than Fleck.
