It’s a great one with some built in competitive advantages but Saban catapulted the expectation level to the point that it is an intimidating job to take.

If a proven coach takes this job it will be because they have an extraordinary amount of confidence in themselves…otherwise it’s an up and comer where the risk is worth the reward.

Either way I feel great to have Woodward managing this process.

Yeah I've enjoyed my time watching Woodward hire all these coordinators and than pay them mega-buyouts over the years. He's a master at 4D chess, and writing final payment checks.

How is that different than Florida, Auburn etc? You'll be fired at those schools too for 500 seasons.

He gives the coach the resources to do what they want.

And FYI it’s not your money

It's true. Some people need to stop and think about it more. How good is this job. Despite all the positives, the expectation is too regularly beat the best coach ever, and that's just to win your half of the division. Or your fired after 3 years and chances are your coaching career takes a step back. Or you can be at another program and make millions for 10 years at a decent program and not have to deal with that shite.

More and more LSU fans start sounding like Texas, Tennessee, Nebraska, etc. Expecting everyone to just WANT to come here. The negatives could outweigh the positives or at least be equal to some. I know I'd take 5 mil for 10 years over 10 mil for 3 yrs and have to go back to a coordinator role or something.

I’m reading this a few times today. Not true. We held on to two coaches for a total of 17 years that didn’t beat Saban regularly. It was losing to Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Miss State and off field debacles that got their jobs.

Cut this narrative out
