And guess who was finebaum's source ? The Austin American-stattesman.
ok, fair enough, still doesn't make it true. probably just Texas wanting to act big again, as if they're the kings of college football. the REALITY is still that they have no history at all of spending that kind of money on coaches.

if they had 10M to actually spend they would have gone after people like Pete Carrol, who makes 8M in Seattle, not just instantly settle on Strong.

Very good point. Texas honestly didn't know what they wanted. They want a yes man more than anything. DeLoss Dobbs former AD said Saban would gain too much power to quickly. It's been a power struggle on that campus for some time. And guess what it hasn't changed. Herman is about to walk into a shite show ran by blind monkeys.

which is why i dont think he'll do it. the "known" qualities of UT arent great (boosters who think they own you, a bad team) and the "unknowns" should give him pause (who will the new AD be, at what point does the 12 fold and what does Texas do then).

i think we have a lot going in our favor here.

I mean he's a coach, and he's coaching in Texas. Shouldn't he already realize this? (assuming it's true)

No, y'all just need to accept this, Saban will retire at Bama.

He's won 4 NC at Bama, going for a 5th with a True Fresh QB. His roster is loaded, recruiting is phenomenal, has everything he could want possesion-money Wise, and is in a position to continue to dominate at Bama for as long as he wants to coach. His process is in full swing and he wants to become the coach with the most NC won ever and at Bama he can do that. If he leaves there's not a guarantee he he could get that program to the level he has Bama at now.

He is not leaving for 10mil, 15mil etc.

Winning a NC at three different programs would be yuuuuge. That + opening the vault? He'd be crazy not to take it.

Saban is too old to start over. And besides, what sane person would walk away from the fricking LOADED roster he's put together at Alabama to go to that dumpster fire in Austin???
