The Panthers still have a 7% chance to make the playoffs - will the owner let Rhule leave?

I am hoping these Rhule rumors have real legs to them and he's done with the NFL, but the issue with that is we're in a ton of trouble if he coaches out the rest of the season. The season ends on January 9, which basically will decimate our recruiting class if he's not recruiting by end of this week.

If the rumors that his team not being happy with him are true, is there the possibility that they give up on the playoffs and mutually part ways this week? If not, then we're really setting ourselves back and it may create an actual total rebuild scenario that our fanbase believe we're currently facing (We're not. Not even close).

I hope so. It’s their bye week, so it makes sense. If it’s Rhule, we will know by Tuesday.

If the rumors of him being a meddler are true I doubt he fights Rhule on it, could want him out

Some guys with NFL pasts have to accept the fact that they're better suited for college.

I will try to think of examples of successful CFB HCs who dipped their toes into the NFL and failed, then returned to CFB and did well.

Just give me a few minutes.

So I’m firmly in the camp that I don’t care if Brady comes with Rhule or not, but it would help if Rhule is announced this week and Brady is “released” to come down to BR this week during their bye and basically take up the recruiting effort as his representative.

That way Rhule doesn’t pull a Petrino and coaches out the season while Brady is doing work for him with the recruiting class.

It honestly makes a lot of sense.

a. This would be a hilarious "oh how the turntables" moment to force him to recruit

b. After Rhule kind of failed due to choosing Brady, I don't see them attached at the hip

Well I am more forecasting a mutual parting of ways (so Carolina doesn't have to pay him a buyout) and it's not really a Petrino.

This is something I’ve wanted to start talking about once the hire is made, but since you brought it up, what do we think is the state of the program?

I definitely think we’re in a much worse situation than we were in 2017, but the portal should hopefully make it easier for a program builder like Rhule to fix quickly. Obviously Walker Howard would be a really nice building block for the first class, and a strong hire like Rhule could hopefully keep some players in the portal or considering it from leaving.

its easy to see you don't want Rhule, I'm guessing you are a Stoops or BoB fan?

Are you going to be bashing Rhule in every thread?

I think we're a good coaching staff and a few transfer portal guys away from competing for 2nd in the West

Our OC is terrible and was not ready for prime time and didn't develop Johnson at all

Our DC showed that when he was allowed to coach, he could create a good (sometimes great) defense with backups

We're not in this pit of despair that our fans want us to be in. I think a lot of that is from cheeriOs who don't want to admit just how shitty of a HC O is, and how bad his hires can be.

Oh I totally agree, I just think it could be a convenient way to package this whole announcement this week.

Hell, once he’s officially here it wouldn’t even surprise me if he hired a new OC and moved Brady to QB coach or back to WRs if Mickey can be shuffled somewhere else.

I’ve long been bashed on this board for saying Brady wasn't some wunderkind even in the midst of 2019.

That said, it was kind of a tough draw for them with CMC being hurt the past two years.

Obviously that would be great, and would negate the need for the Brady bridge, but just not sure how realistic it is. Guess it depends on how the relationship with the owner has gone.

Hopefully we’ll know soon.

If woodward pulls rhule and brady then wow.

I just haven't seen any legitimate talk of this.

Does anyone have a link?

This was the biggest positive over the last 5 games. Jones and staff did an EXCELLENT job.

There is none. It's been message board speculation (on here and Panther boards) for a while. LSU fans floated him early on and Panther fans think he's on a super hot seat. It's speculation that he may want back in CFB and if he does, then LSU would fit.

It's also built around the "fans will be very happy" stuff. There aren't any other options left that fit that bill, really.

Perhaps the owner and Rhule reach an agree it’s time to move on.

The owner allows Rhule to resign, so the stink of being fired isn’t there (which could be a bad look for LSU hiring a just-fired coach). The resignation is portrayed positively, the basis being to accept the LSU job, not because of frustrations or lack of success in the NFL.

Idk, just a thought.
