Napier is definitely not my top choice, or probably even in my Top3, but I can and will definitely support the hire. It makes a lot of sense and I’m pretty optimistic that he will do well at LSU based on what I’ve read about him.
If Napier was currently the OC at Bama, OhioSt, or Oklahoma (or some other big school, which he is obviously qualified for and probably would be if he wasn’t HC at ULL), then his detractors wouldn’t have an issue with his current status. He’d be the exact same coach but somehow miraculously “qualified” for the logical next step

That's what got him the job, dumbass. It was in the Binder. Ed promised to keep Dave, and hire Kiffin. Even got Kiffin on the phone to say so. Kiffin then went out and took a nothing HC job instead of work for O. Ponamsky then saw Canada's name on here, and Ed hired him from that.

I notice how these were all very good coordinators. Napier has very little notable experience as a coordinator.
Feels like classic Curly Hallman era hire, but maybe the money is the biggest issue when it comes down to it.
A disappointing hire indeed.

Wasn't like he wasn't available earlier in his career. He was just bad at playcalling and no one wanted him. He sat on Saban's staff for years and nobody called until ULL and now he's some wunderkind. Hilarious.

No fricking shite. They wanted to make Aranda the interim in 2017 after Troy. And he wasn’t allowed to touch Aranda. They butted heads. That’s why Ed said the stupid shite he said in 2020.
I’m not saying Ed was forced to keep Aranda and somehow that was a hindrance. My post was a reply to someone saying no coach has been handcuffed at LSU and it just isn’t true. They handcuffed Aranda to O because they knew LSU was screwed without him and didn’t allow O to run him off.

I wouldn’t be against it. If he gets the job, he wins it in the interview. The only issue I have is who is the last coach straight from G5that’s come to a powerhouse school and did well. Herman, Taggart, Norvell, Butch Jones, and the list goes on. Kiffin has done well but he was also an NFL head coach.
