The case for Mel Tucker.

LSU’s defense has not been LSU defense for a few years now. With Tucker, you bring a strong defensive mind to correct that side of the ball. It would definitely be nice seeing a strong D at LSU again.
Second, Tucker identified the lack of talent at Michigan St. he cut over 20 players and brought in 15 guys to improve the deficiencies of the team. This has improved them to 7-0 in year two.he obviously is a good talent evaluater.
With any other candidate save L.F. you are hiring a guy who’s met their potential. Tucker’s potential as a head coach is on the rise. He’s the riskier pick but potentially the higher reward pick. The nfl drafts on potential, if you don’t have a sure fire candidate you hire based on potential.
He’s known as a strong recruiter. If you bring in Tucker and he duplicates the same success in year two, 7-0, being the only African American head coach in the sec would definitely carry a lot of weight to win the necessary recruiting battles against bama, Georgia, Florida, and Texas am.
Mel tucker's buyout is 6 million before Jan 15th and drops to 2.5 million after Jan 15th
He has learned under saban, Kirby, tressel, and rant favorite jack del rio. He knows the model.

Completely disagree here. I think Aranda’s potential is easily just as high as Tucker’s if not significantly higher. He’s also I believe 5 years younger.

I would agree with everything except this. Aranda and Napier to name a couple.

The reason they are undefeated is because they haven’t played anyone. They will lose to OSU and Michigan!! They barely beat INDIANA!!

Haven’t they been losing to all those teams? The point is, he’s improved them. There is no denying it.

There is no compelling case for Tucker. He was fired and driven out of the NFL after a humiliating stint as Bears' DC. I witnessed firsthand his complete inability to teach, adapt, organize. And his first recruiting class at MSU was an abomination. 46th in the country, 10th in the Big Ten. It had one four star. One. The guy went 2-5 in his first season at MSU. That record includes such stellar results as a 49-7 loss to Iowa, a 24- 0 pounding by Indiana, and a 52-12 drubbing by Ohio State. What the hell in those facts indicates he is ready to take LSU to glory and compete against the likes of Saban and the SEC? Nothing.

You mean the recruiting class Tucker signed when he was hired at Michigan State AFTER signing day?

Michigan States Defense is 87th in the country.
Eta: and they haven't played a team with a winning record this year.

What the frick are you talking about? I was referring to the 2021 MSU class, when he was most certainly the head coach. You total moron.

What’s the 2021 class ranked?

Think it's 17 right now on 247. Interesting to see where it ends up.

It’s just way too risky of a hire for where the program is right now. I don’t even mean stature, the fan base really does seem to losing a lot of its passion as college football more and more becomes NFL lite.
The wrong hire and especially one that appears on the surface as for the wrong reasons could really kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.
Maybe Mel is an incredible coach and would kill it but you can’t really look at his resume as it is and come to that conclusion.
