Over Tom Herman. I just like the guy too much. Let him hire a badass offensive coordinator, retain Aranda, and let it ride. Having one of, if not the best, recruiters in the country as your head coach couldn't hurt either. All in for the big guy.

Herman won more games in about 3/4 of a season at Houston than Orgeron did in 3 years at Ole Miss.

Can you imagine a school like Texas, Florida, Alabama, Michigan, or Ohio State hiring a guy with a losing record as a head coach? Does that not sound absolutely ridiculous?

Why is it Coach O has to beat Bama to get a look but you guys already said youd still want Herman even if he lost to Louisville??

Thise FSU and OU wins arent looking so monumental right now. Just wondering why O has to beat the best?

Herman is doing it with an American Conference team. If he came to LSU, he'd have a lot more talent to work with.

You realize we had this for the past 12 years or so right?

And that we've had that AND Ed O on staff as DLine coach as well....so what benefit does that aspect add?

Because the fanbase has already made up their mind that Herman is the next Saban. I think he's a hell of a coach and he'd be my next choice after Orgeron though.

You must be delusional. O probably is your hc in a John Madden fb game.

Have you looked up coach O's tenure at Ole Miss? Do you still like him too much?

I'm on his side but he pretty much has to win out for me to want him over Herman. If he does lose one it would have to be very close to convince me otherwise.

Close as in a good game. Not a les miles ms state close.

You know who no one liked too much?

Nick Saban.

Liking a guy is the worst possible reason to hire him to run a multi million dollar organization.

Repeat after me:

Resume

Btw, how many more of these threads have to be started??? Can an admin please start deleting some of these. They're already old and there are about 20 of them out here already.

If for some reason we can't get Herman or Fisher, Coach O seems like he'd be a pretty good fall back plan. You'd save money hiring him and that'd be more money to get a homerun OC hire and retain Aranda for the foreseeable future. He'd let them do their job and he'd recruit his @ss off and get the players hype to play every Saturday.

We scored 34, 35, 45, 45, and 56 on P5 opponents last year. Let's not drink the Orgeron Kool-Aid based on 42-7 against Mizzou.

If he beats Bama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and TAMU, I can get on board. If he splits those or worse, we might as well have kept Miles.

Oh you thought he meant the 'best' coach? Noooo, he meant the one he likes the most personally.

This thread scares me tbh. Too many of these guys roaming around these days.

Agreed. One of the most logical comments i saw posted by someone else the other night was:

1) we played mizzou
2) they couldn't gameplan for our team because no one knew what O would come out showing on offense.
3) you make an assessment once you play teams that are A) worth a shite and B) have time to properly game plan for us.
4) even if coach O wins more than he loses it doesn't mean he's the best option.

But hey, who listens to reason and examines a coach based on his resume and performance over an entire year? He has an accent we are familiar with so that's the only cred he needs i guess.

Yeah, but isn't nice to like a guy who actually has a strong resume? Having the cake and eat it too. Personalities and relationships count for something. There are very competent and exceptional people who get dissed and passed over in the business world because others can't stand them. Then they go somewhere else and knock it out of the park..or not. Maybe they should not been passed on. But if an enterprise can find an excellent leader who actually has the respect of others and is likable the more the merrier.

If you do then you should be much more cautious about pumping up coach O before you have even seen how he fairs against them on 11/5.

We would have jimbo if we didn't follow this rule.

Orgeron is the man for me. Now, if he lost 4 more games this year then I'm sure I'd feel a little different

I just feel like some of yall act like hiring CEO would be the end of the world. IN MY OPINION, if we missed out on Herman it wouldn't be catastrophic like some seem to think. CEO isn't the same coach that he was at Ole Miss. He'd let the coordinators do their job (unlike Les) and players would love to play for him. He realizes we need a new look on offense. And more importantly, he realizes the fans want a new look on offense.

This is a message board so I'm just sharing my opinion

Of course that sounds ridiculous. I'm saying that I WANT CEO to be the guy. Not that I'm predicting it.
