No, I just dont give damn. That was 9 years ago. Miles (who hired him) got fired in 2016. It was Orgeron's choice for whatever reason.
Its just ridiculous to say he did an awful job when Guice had a Top 3 or 4 rushing season in school history in his only season... with an ineffective passing game.

I remember when he played football and basketball for Southern

He should be a big hit.

So I started another thread about this and no one will give a straight answer. I remember rumblings then, but really want to know.

The New Orleans area is so important to recruiting college football talent that major college programs will hire subpar coaches.

Yeah, I hope the new guys know how to dial a phone or LSU is totally screwed.

I generally agree but don't forget Coach Raymond. He's from New Iberia. Acadiana isn't New Orleans but it'll still help with the state. I really hope Kiffin knows what he's doing giving up our NOLA connect. Glass is half full.

Great get for Texas. Would've been retained at UF had he not slapped that LSU player
He should have faced charges for that. People get charged for way less with no proof daily.

Lets not ignore the fact that it was actually Orgeron who fired him. If he was fired by O that should tell this dude is a sleaze ball of extreme level.

People like to say LSU is in a great spot because of the lack of recruiting competition, but it's only as good as the connections you have on staff that can unlock it. Kyle Williams was north Louisiana, Frank was south Louisiana, big recruiting holes to fill.
It’s 2025 and there is NIL and social media. This regional gatekeeping shite is going the way of the dodo.

he was?
seriously asking, as he had just gotten the job in the spring. I get him having ties from being from that area and doing some coaching there, but he was still new to CFB recruiting as a new coach, and I'd imagine we had other guys with ties to the area (like Sloan, Baker, and JR Belton) that were instrumental up there.

Good. Give me Kevin Smith and Lacy
They aren’t binding (despite what Ranters say), but Smith signed a term sheet to remain in Oxford.

This guy is such a bad RB coach how does he keep getting big jobs?
Recruiting
There is a reason why RB, WR, and DL coaches are so often recruiters first

ETA: LA recruiters have little impact with NIL these days
No matter what the NIL offer is the kid still has to want to go to your school

Really don’t care. Franks not a great coach and he’s no longer needed as a recruiter. Let him go to Ole Miss.

Recruiters with Louisiana ties are a hot commodity regardless of coaching ability.
Maybe to programs and head coaches who haven’t figured out that “recruiting coaches” are fricking pointless in today’s college football. You don’t get recruits anymore by trying to cheerleader them into running through a brick wall for your school. You get them by just fricking paying them.
At this point I don’t know why schools don’t put up a “positions of need” list like a “help wanted” add. Just list your required qualifications for a running back or offensive lineman or quarterback and have them sub their “application”

Here’s the order of importance to a recruit now:
1. How much are you gonna pay me?
2. Highest level of development for the league while at said university.
3. Can I win while I’m there?
4. School pride, state pride, connections, and all of the other bullshite.

Beat his texas dollar offer and he'll come without hesitation
it's not complicated

Yes, he is. He tried to fight a bunch of LSU players this year. He takes it personal at how LSU fired him. Mediocre coach and an even worse person. He tried to burn the program down when they showed him the door.

What constitutes a good RB coach? What are the coaching principles? I don’t know so that’s why I’m asking.
