Texas’s problem isn’t their coach at this point.

Texas’s problem is Texas

I knew UT was pretty liberal but I didn't realize it was this bad. I wonder if ppl there had been able to keep their mouth shut ( because I think they did have a deal in place with Saban ) and he had taken that job. As great as he is would he have been able to operate and thrive in that woke environment. Would the players there been able to handle a Alpha like Saban?

That is my opinion.

What kind of melt would we have if he ended up at LSU.

Don't worry guys, if it was him I suspect he would be here already.

It's because Texas has so much politics in its football program that OU gains the advantage especially in North Texas. It is the reason the Red River Rivalry is as big as it is plus, Norman is the same distance from DFW as Austin is approximately

You mean the highest rated city in Texas for living? The city with the best healthcare in the state, reliable public transportation, and some of the most modern shopping centers in the country?

Saban would get players who would.

The real question was, would the boosters be able to handle an Alpha like Saban?

do you think texas regrets getting rid of herman now?

The people that make the decisions at UT have no ability to have regrets. That would require an inward thinking that simply does not exist among their kind.

Look... you need to understand these oilmen. They have MASSIVE losses in their businesses. Lose tons of money time, after time, after time. Then, one big hit makes up for it and more.

it's a boom and bust cycle in which you take big chances and huge risks and if it doesn't work out, you write it off and take another big chance and huge risk.

They will keep trying every three years until they get it right.

The problem is... while they know the oil business, they don't know the college football businesses... but they act like they do.

that's the main issue at texas. i think herman could've handled the players if the boosters weren't so involved.

as far as all the silly blm foolishness, all the pampered dandys at these college programs are always looking for something to crow about. anything that gives them an excuse to be rebellious or post on social media. i doubt they believe in anything except their own vanity.

The boosters are the problem and until recently the ghost of Darrell K. Royal would loom large as well. Mack Brown was one of the few that could navigate that minefield

Now tackle the homelessness problem. I love Austin as much as the next guy but even as someone who may be considered liberal by nature there is an unwillingness in that city to take action and improve some very glaring issues due to them being perceived as “mean.”

Exactly… Austin is like a top 5 dream city for 18-30 year olds. It’s got a ton of night life, great food scene, ridiculous amount of swimmable water in the area and some of the best job prospects in the country.

Culture change doesn't happen overnight. Even Saban took his lumps during his first year in Tuscaloosa. Sark has the chance to finish 7-5 and end the season on a high note.

He'll get two more seasons to right the ship, and that's a reasonable expectation for any coach coming into a flawed situation. By year three, there should be noticeable improvement. What that means is different for every program, for Texas, it probably means beating OU and a trip to the conference championship (if they're still in the Big 12). If they're in the SEC by year three, who knows what a realistic expectation should be bc it's not going to get any easier for the Longhorns.

i would say 8 wins a season in a 13 game season and 10 or 11 every 4 years should prolly be the expectation.

they've won 10 games once since 2009.
