Not what Mack was looking for. Sometimes you can't shake your past, fair or not, and Shannon was rumored to be the money guy at Miami early in his career.

and yeah i remember hearing a story about shannon knowing about all the money that was coming into the player's pockets and such at miami and did nothing about it. that right thurr is a major violation in itself. how he got the head coaching position at da u with that hanging over his head is amazing.

The guy could be successful, the problem however is the recruits. I doubt they will be much excited about the dude, while Randy Shannon would have definitely helped them keep most if not all their D recruits.

The rumor I'm hearing is that it's hard getting the "big splash" hires to listen. Not because a job at Texas is bad, but because most people look at Mack Brown and see 2-3 years more at most, and that's not exactly job security for a coordinator unless they can swing a year at coordinator into a head coach-in-waiting gig.
