it's also funny that if you look at the requirements posted for the job opening (something like 13 years at the D-1 level and 7 years in the NFL) literally the only person that qualifies to those specs exactly is Teryl Austin

Mack is just like Miles. Can't develop his own coaches he just takes everyone elses.

Doesn't every coach do this?

Do you think Mack & Miles should hire people who have never coached before and 'develop' them?

The rumor I'm hearing is that it's hard getting the "big splash" hires to listen. Not because a job at Texas is bad, but because most people look at Mack Brown and see 2-3 years more at most

Richard Justice was saying last night that Mack might actually end up being a lifer like Paterno. Basically, Mack spoke to Darrell Royal who said he regretted retiring too early, and now Mack regrets saying he'd retire soon.

Man...I'm all about hiring an unknown up and comer if he's out of this world, but this guy hasn't even performed well in the one DC job he had. Before that, a lifetime assistant.

wtf texas?

What happened to Texas being the most powerful enitity in college football. last year they were changing conferences and now they can't even hire a DC or OC that anyone has heard of. Pathetic

Austin isn't signed yet and there are rumors that his name was just a smokescreen. I'll wait to see official announcements before I panic, but so far it doesn't look good.

received a text from a source (yes, a real source) that he received an email from mack brown stating no offer has been made. could be semantics and doesn't mean Austin isn't the guy and will get an offer but still interesting information.

So is DW the real target for Mack and is this a HCIW type deal?
