I've seen clips of ULM men's and women's basketball games on television, and you can almost count the number of fans on both hands. Baseball and softball are the same. Having to provide scholarships, facilities and travel for those programs will always be a losing proposition. It's almost a shame they even have to sponsor those programs, because students and fans care nothing about them.
It is 2023. People prioritize money and their free time very differently than 1993.
You got to find a way to be competitive first. A lot less people are going to tie up 4 hours to see a team lose by 20+.
The good news is the Monroe area is filled with some of the most passionate and knowledgeable football fans in the state.
Give them a reason to come see you when the High School teams aren’t playing.

Ehh, could be worse. He would definitely bring needed discipline.

He did well with the RBs this year! They were vastly underutilized. Offensive play calling lost at least three games.

Chris Scelfo would take the job. He graduated from there.

I just wanna win, man! The community needs it.

It’s time to bring Doug Pederson home.

Should have never gone to 1A. They had to get creative to get the home attendance piece done. Some of the games vs UA in Little Rock were supposed “ home games”. NLU had won a national championship in 87 and would have been at top of that division for years. Trying to keep up with Tech, as I saw it at the time . It will never be much different there.

Does ULM consider going back to FCS at some point?
They should.

To prove his most embarrassing loss wasn’t actually embarrassing, and to prove that ULM is actually a sleeping giant of the CFB world, Nick Saban will be the next head coach of ULM.
And no you cannot have whatever I am smoking, you couldn’t afford it.

I attended Tech and ULM games this year and Tech was definitely the more lackluster environment

I just read into Broderick fobbs some I actually would like that hire a lot. If he can win with that shite show admin at grambling I think he could do something with us

Believe it or not, they have some ballers. The guy who owns Guaranty media is an alum.

Fobbs dealt with 3 different shite show administrations at Grambling. The guy can recruit, coach and find hidden gems. Some trivia is that Fobbs was the first college coach to offer Josh Jacobs a scholarship.

Apparently the softball coach is some kind of fundraising wunderkind.

Terry Bowden was given a base salary of $360,000 per year.

ULM has an Athletic Foundation?

We really need a student fee to help fund the athletic department.
As does Tech and ULL. Cajuns are still hanging around thanks to some of the talent Napier brought in, but dark times are ahead for all three programs in this era of football.
All three have extremely low budgets and no realistic way of raising them. Louisiana is also, to my knowledge, the only state that requires a student body vote to implement a fee.
There is a middle ground to be found between this and the nonsense at James Madison. Universities should be able to tack on a fee that covers student tickets to athletic events. Whether students choose to take part in those athletic events is up to them.
I have a feeling the Louisiana legislator will eventually figure this out but the question is how far they let their 3 UL-System FBS schools fall behind before waking up. History does not lead me to be optimistic about this timeline.

quote:Apparently there's also some cooling off period that has to occur before you try again if it fails too. The vote we had in '16 was set to be super quietly passed. Only people that really knew about it were athletes and even then only a few of us knew. A freshman teammate of mine who was on student council found out and threw a huge fit. Vote ends up getting shot down largely due to the campaign he lead. Was quite frustrating.

quote:honestly in the day and age we live in anything like this that gets proposed is likely to get shot down quick. the time to change that was likely in the early/mid 2000's.
