If the UL System finds a way to do it without the legislator, they’ll do it quietly in the night and hope nobody notices.

The student fee will work if you have a large student body. But in Louisiana for most of the schools, it will replace what they transfer from the general fund: and it may not even fully replace that. Now maybe the idea is to put the student fee on top of the general fund transfers but that opens up another issue.

im almost positive thats what it would be. Or the fee would potentially try and replace it plus some.

Hearing coach O has reached out. Hartwell was the AD @ Ole Miss during his abysmal tenure there.

I would take O in a heartbeat. He may get a couple difference makers in the portal. I am sure it would be a whole O family package deal. That is the only way I would see him going back to work.

I graduated from NLU in 92 and 93. It has been a long long long time since they gave me any hope.

But O has a current and big list of coaches he could pull in as coordinators, he could recruit a little, and he could take the DL coaching responsibilities

I would think its a pipe dream. I have no idea how they make them a program with any relevance.

He would bring bring excitement to the program, not seen since your days. We had guys this year, they were just underutilized. If we had won that App State game, were probably not having this conversation right now.

ULM really needs a fundraiser to address the facilities issue more than an x and o guy and I can see Orgeron as a great fit there. At his best he's a very likeable larger-than-life guy. Granted, he's not always at his best but neither am I.

Should have never gone to 1A. They had to get creative to get the home attendance piece done. Some of the games vs UA in Little Rock were supposed “ home games”. NLU had won a national championship in 87 and would have been at top of that division for years. Trying to keep up with Tech, as I saw it at the time . It will never be much different there.

I'm an NLU grad and I agree w/ you. I also think they should return to FCS. As an FCS school, they could still schedule games w/ the big paycheck to fund the rest of the athletic dept and (hopefully) return to having a competitive football program.

Yea the issue is the pay check isn’t as beefy when you’re fcs. From a competitive standpoint it would definitely be better but I get why it can’t happen now either. We don’t have the money to eat the difference.

I'll take the job. I want $75k base salary and $50k per win. $100k bonus for a conference championship. $250k bonus for the G5 playoff spot.

Why don’t they just go after Mark Hudspeth. He had USL winning before Napier. He has some baggage but the guy wins wherever he goes. Just win baby!

In all seriousness, give HC Orgeron and OC Steve Ensminger the blessing to hire their sons as assistant coaches, since they are all budding coaches anyway, and they would come just to get their kids set up there over a few years. Those kids are going to be good coaches anyway, so it's worth a shot, and a shot of adrenaline to the program.

Bobby Petrino basically did the same for his son and son in law at Missouri State, before he left for A&M.

ETA: Tyler Spotts-Orgeron is offensive quality control at Tulane

Cody Orgeron is an analyst for the Miami Hurricanes

Parker Orgeron is quality control at Baylor

Steven Ensminger Jr - former QB at Auburn and La Tech - recently got into coaching and became head coach at Cedar Creek for a short time

If Hartwell is talking to O they're keeping it quiet. Not a whisper of it going around ULM. I'd love it though.

ULM has to do a better job of marketing to the monroe community for support/fundraising. It truly is like they don't give a frick and are ok with the big payday from playing Texas, Georgia, and LSU once or twice a year.

Instead most of the Monroe big money guys would rather support LSU/Ole Miss.
