If Ensminger told them no the first time they approached him for the OC position. Why did he accept the 2nd time when Briles and Gilbert were shut down? If he loves LSU so much and really didn’t want the OC position that bad, why didn’t he tell them no again and force them to do a full on search for a young, bright OC?

I would like to know this as well. I believe Steve loves LSU whole heartedly and wants what’s best for the program. If he is truly insisting that he doesn’t feel he’s what’s best, how did they force him to change his mind?

He said they approached Steve and told him that everyone had turned them down. Basically they said they were desperate.

The problem lies in the "search" after Ensminger said no the first time. If Coach O only went after Briles and Freeze, that's disgraceful. There are tons of coordinators across college football LSU could have attempted to talk to outside of Briles and Freeze.

Coach O never had a search. It was Ensminger once, spin around in a circle, then ask Ensminger again.

All of that even dismisses the fact that they pretty much prioritized Ensminger in the first place.

These people are pathetic and have no self-awareness.

The fact the even approached Steve first should be enough legal cause to fire O

I feel like Coach O intentionally selected Briles and Freeze knowing that they would be struck down, just so he could settle with Ensminger, which he wanted all along.

Because then O would've just turned around and given the position to Sullivan alone.

Maybe Steve thinks he can mitigate some of the damage?

I sort of agree. He said he wants to run a 2000s USC pro style offense. How do Freeze and Briles become candidates to install that?

I want to point out that tenth was posting all through the night, up until 5:30 at least, so don't expect an answer soon

Yeah that 2000s USC offense was great. To bad Coach O can't get Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush to play in it.

A couple of weeks ago, the radio guys weren't saying that Ensminger didn't want the job. They were saying that he didn't want the job if he didn't get a pay bump representative of that position. That's TOTALLY different.

The "he doesn't want it" was a way for Ensminger to set the requirement for his salary. Ensminger is looking out for #1 in this. Make no mistake. He shouldn't be shielded from criticism.

Probably just boils down to Ensminger being a type of guy that doesn't want to let down his friends and Orgeron being the type of person that will manipulate that to his advantage.

Ensminger wanted a million. Looks like he got it

O just followed the process set forth by his boss, the Honorless POS Alleva.

Wait, he should be criticized for wanting to be paid commensurate with his position??

That's stupid

That said, he shouldn't be considered for the position. He's not "the best", and that's what O said we would get.

They’re basically guilting him into taking this job. “If you really love LSU, you’d be our Offensive Coordinator”

Waiting to see what Tenth has to say...I agree that it seems he did it to get a pay raise and wanted it all along. Because if he really didn’t want it that bad he would have said no the second time too!

Some of the other posts on this board with sauces are saying O was turned down by the coaches he talked to.

That comes back to Alleva hiring a guy nobody wants to work for.

Learn to read. He should NOT be shielded from criticism. This is being sold as doing LSU a favor. It's laughably inaccurate. The guy is making about 500% more than he would make in another OC position somewhere.
