Wait, he should be criticized for wanting to be paid commensurate with his position??
only "the best" OC's in the nation get a million per... like maybe top ten... no one is beating down the door asking him to be their OC. You earn what you get through results, he has not shown results over time to comensurate that salary.. dont make two mistakes just because you made one.. 550k tops, and thats just because he is paid more than his RB coach who is also a RC. Put the other 500k in an high risk stock (they are booming) and use it to pay for part of orgerons buyout in a year.

There could be a veiled threat as well as what has previously been mentioned: 0 manipulating his friend through guilt and/OR the veiled threat of dismissal if he does NOT take the position.
I've been in that position before.

It depends on whether or not Steve Ensminger has the same views as we do.
The staff isnt on TD looking at all the negativity. Ensmingers thought process was probably along the lines of "Okay, ill do it for LSU." Orgeron likely came at him the second time and he just folded.
He didnt turn it down the first time because he thought LSU could do better.
He likes the simplicity of coaching tight ends.
The OC position is a job of great stress now.

Peer pressure, honestly. What else?
Pick a position on staff with the most scrutiny and you will get OC everytime. You think that man wants to be booed when our staff sets him up to fail?
Hes too old for this shite.

Money. He’s gonna be so overpaid. I bet he will be in the top 5 or all OCs

He said they approached Steve and told him that everyone had turned them down. Basically they said they were desperate.
And if this is true, LSU is in far more trouble than we ever thought.

If you're desperate, you open up the checkbook, not look around and pick the first warm body who can even remotely do the job.
Or if you're desperate, you find a way to make a Freeze, or a Sark or a Briles hire "go right" - the SJW cries be damned, hire Briles - ART - all in FTMFW.
FFS, I love Steve Ensminger (:nohomo:), and this is terrible (if true).
