A source with first-hand knowledge said Tennessee has contacted Purdue coach Jeff Brohm, as well as Southern Cal offensive coordinator Tee Martin. Brohm, per sources at Purdue, mostly operates without an agent while Martin is represented by Jimmy Sexton.

It should be noted that in talking with multiple sources, they emphasized that Currie – and therefore UT leaders – were made fully aware of Schiano’s entire coaching past, including Penn State, and also were informed that Schiano had steadfastly received clean background checks at each coaching post. What’s interesting to note in just how many Tennessee people signed off on Schiano is that the Cleveland Browns (owned by Volunteer booster Jimmy Haslam) interviewed Schiano for their vacancy before ultimately hiring Hue Jackson. Tennessee had interviewed Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, per people familiar with UT’s search, but had been scared away by Campbell’s prodigious $9 million buyout. Dan Mullen, who contemplated the Tennessee job, accepted the head coaching position at Florida on Sunday.

Haslem’s vetting of him isn’t an endorsement IMHO.

Scumbag businessman whose pro team is synonymous with losing and dysfunction.

No question. You know Sexton's been watching this all go down.

If I were Brohm, I would avoid this shite show all together. He has the Boilermakers bowling and with another year of success in IN will have any gig he wants next season. After the Schiano shite, I wouldnt want to be anywhere near Knoxville.

Brohm should stay put, imo.

I don't think Brohm or Martin would be bad hires. Sure, those are tier 2/3/whatever choices, but I really think Brohm is going to be a good coach down the line. I don't know enough about Tee Martin to comment one way or the other. Brohm though, appears to be a winner

tennessee job is a fish bowl. if any coach avoids this job because of all the schiano stuff they probably couldn't have handled it anyway.

the haslams fingerprints are all over this.

I would hire Brohm because he has HC experience but Tee Martin has the hire ceiling IMO. Good offensive coach and recruiter.

Sure, historically UT is a better program but right now I can't think of any worse jump that could be made right now. 4-8, just crushed by Vandy, Incompetent at best admin and a fan base that thinks they are a Gruden away from a national championship.

Brohm isn't solely a money motivated guy. He drives a 2005 Honda Accord even though he gets a $1250 a month car allowance from us.

Why go to a job where you play UGA, Bama AND UF every year and where your fan base expects you to sweep them every year....when your recruiting state/base is not better than either of those 3. Seems crazy to me.

Purdue could easily match anything that UT would offer with our BTN $$$. We already have the 4th highest assistant pool in conference and those guys are likely to get a raise after the job they did this past year.

The only reason you could say UT is better at this point is past history....and 1998 is only getting further and further away after every shitty coaching hire.

If Tennessee get Brohm then Currie’s list looks backwards. Brohm>Schiano

That was my first thought too, but if Sexton wants to make Martin a head coach he will get it done over an unrepresented coach.
