Not a done deal but he's our #1 guy and we are in talks. Hearing that he is talking with assistants. We shall see.

loses 3 games a year unless he has a Heisman winner at quarterback

So does does every coach in college football not named Saban. Meyer won with Heisman winners or Heisman candidates. Dabo and Petrino are winning with Heisman front-runners. Chizik had Cam. That's the way it is. The only coach that doesn't need a Heisman caliber QB is Saban, and he ain't coming here. What you have to ask yourself, is which coach is more likely to produce a Heisman caliber QB? - probably one who has done it before, and has a record of QB development. Fisher ticks off all the boxes. Feel free to love O or whoever, but Fisher is a homerun hire by any objective criteria - criticizing him makes you sound stupid. Herman's got a helluva history with QBs as well, but not on Fisher's level.

I just don't see us getting anywhere with that. In college football recruiting is where it all starts and ends for the most part. You just have to be competent at the rest of it. Being great at the rest of it is a bonus that gives you an edge and can at times make up for talent in some instances, but is not sustainable.

Yeah man, he sucks as a recruiter.

Wow that is big time news. Is this from a very trusted source? How accurate do you think the info is?

Remove Winston and he's an annual 8-4 to 9-3 head coach.

I love how people keep thinking a Heisman Trophy winner and #1 overall draft pick is a negative against Jimbo.

And going into this season, he's finished 9-3 once and 8-4 once.

Right. Basically every team who goes to the championship game has a Heisman winner or finalist. But Jimbo needs a Heisman finalist or he can't do it. Generally, if you have a championship caliber season...someone is getting picked to be a finalist.

Might want to check Jimbo's record at Florida State again.
