Well time to come eat crow. Apparently this is actually happening. Dude turned down South Carolina, State and apparently A&M this offseason only to take the TCU job. Never would have guessed it.

Wasn't TCU in the championship game this past season?

Hey Cheshire,

Read the posts by you on the Arkansas SEC Rant, are your sources legit and is Briles really gone?

Why do you care? He isn't the big hitter as it was a year ago when Arkansas was going to be good this past season but ending up flopping big time.

He’s reading tea leaves, message board sources, and naturally pessimistic. Take it with a grain of salt

He's absolutely gone with maybe KJ as well.

He had a memorandum of understanding with State but at the last minute TCU has swooped in with all you can eat catfish NIL deal. Things are day to day and the ball is in his court with rumors that 30 players are leaving and the whole team hates KJ.

Bobby Petrino's wrecked motorcycle is our early favorite for new OC.

You talk way too much shite for a fan of a program that hasn't had a winning season in 4 seasons or a bowl win in a decade. Little bro syndrome galore.

I mean they’re not in reality but it’s the Rant so we’ll allow it.

TCU has as more BCS/New Year 6 bowl wins than all 3 of those schools combined since '98 (year the BCS started).

and 4 times as many top 3 (AP) finishes all-time as those 3 do combined.

Well obviously, they played in the Mountain West for the majority of those years

It’s tough having the most sought after OC in college football.

they've been in the Big XII for just as many years as they were in their previous 2 conferences (Mountain West and CUSA) combined.

Also, they have as many Big XII titles as A&M, despite not having still not been in that league as long as A&*M was.

Or he’s shopping his name all over looking for the best landing trying to get out of Arky.

If he was so intent on staying, his name wouldn’t be attached to every opening.

Maybe they are better program than State, but they are not even close to USC or A&M in terms of conference, TV, money, alumni base, facilities, etc. Them being a private school just makes it worse. And those gaps are also about to get a LOT wider in a few years.

That said, TCU is still a really good job, especially right now. But long-term, they aren’t going to sustain what you saw this year. They never have sustained high-level success and every important trend other than location is now working against them.

This guy actually gets it. It’s beyond absurd to say TCU is on the same level just because they won some games in a much lesser conference.

Their conference TV deal is about to have the bottom fall out when UT and OU leave and they are a private school with a smaller enrollment (around 1/3 most SEC schools) and alumni base and lesser facilities than you get with larger state schools. They may have rich boosters, but they still can’t win in a pure numbers game.

USC and A&M have a lot more long-term potential with the right leadership than they do. Especially A&M. The program resources aren’t even remotely close.
