Saban
Kiffin
Dilly
Freeman
Lanning
Lea
Key
Brohm

All these guys like their current situation better than LSU. You’re going to have to settle for someone unproven

Matt Campbell
Will Stein
Eric Morris
Alex Golesh
Jedd Fisch
Lincoln Riley
Eli Drinkwitz
James Franklin
Brian Hartline
Joe Brady
Jon Sumrall

^
These are the best realistic names. Matt Campbell and Eric Morris would both be excellent hires

It’s one of the weirder tropes out there. Money talks in today’s cfb, not school pride.

Not as weird as the trope that every head coach is a mercenary. The vast majority of P4 coaches are already earning very comfortable livings for themselves and their families.

In the NIL/portal era, do you become a legend at your alma mater by building a perennial conference and CFP contender? Or do you uproot your family to jump into an SEC powder keg where a couple too many 3 and 4 loss seasons will get you fired?

Every head coach has their own priorities and motivations. It's stupid to assume money talks to all of them above everything else.

Especially since the SEC is currently a collection of 16 really good teams who all have the resources to compete - and if you don't finish top 4 on a regular basis you get fired.

Exactly. If you screw up at the SEC school, your career is ruined. The quick trigger and 25% of the teams being open before we even get to November is bad optics.

Plus the stakes have never been higher. Look at Brent Key. Georgia Tech is auditioning for the B1G/SEC. If Key leaves they could turn into a dumpster fire and possibly be left out. We’re only 2-3 years away from the ACC falling apart

Plus the NIL factor. Yes the top schools have an advantage. But if you can pull in just top 20 high school classes, you can supplement that with big portal spending and field a NC contender

Every coach seems to find a new woman here so none of that matters

The alma mater might not have to match dollar for dollar but if there's a $4-5M gap . . . I don't think school spirit goes that far for anybody.

Buddy, you truly have no idea how the mind of a college football coach works.

Doesn’t mean a damn thing . He’s only 35 years old. LSU is a top 5 job in the country if they make him a priority and offer it he is not passing that up. Some of yall overplay the “ Alma mater “ shite these coaches at the end of the day are driven by winning and financial security which are two things LSU to a higher degree than ASU.

turned down Arkansas' offer

quote:

Dillingham was mentioned as a candidate by Hogville’s Otis Kirk, with radio host Bobby Bones doubling down on that with some concrete numbers. Responding to some Twitter scuttlebutt about an alleged Arkansas contract offer to Dillingham, Bones wrote that the Hogs offered him $10 million per year to coach the Razorbacks.

Dillingham, however, has rebuffed that interest, according to another radio voice. On 103.7 The Buzz’s Out of Bounds on Wednesday, Wess Moore said “it’s not happening” in regards to Dillingham. The coach has expressed some displeasure with the current state of ASU’s NIL, but it will take a lot for him to leave his alma mater, and it appears Arkansas didn’t meet that bar.

No reason to leave for Arkansas. LSU or Florida is a different story.
