You do get fired if you are embarrassed by Navy two years in a row. At Army, all they ask is for the team to play hard and to beat Navy every once in a while. Brock didn't do that so he is gone.

Just ask Bob Sutton once he started losing to Navy he was thanked for his service. Unfortunately, he was the last coach to have a program that was anywhere close to being respectable.

Didn't beating Navy keep on saving his job for a few years? It seems after they fired Sutton, Army has been a joke.

Yeah . . . every year it was rumored that he was on the hot seat and then we would have a miraculous come from behind victory against Navy to save his job. He beat Navy 5 years in a row from 1992-1996.
In my opinion joining Conference USA killed the program. At the time I thought it was a great move and would help recruiting, but in hindsight that doesn't appear to be the case.

It wasn't really widely reported but Stan Brock had surgery for prostate cancer right before the season. It may have nothing to do with it but he may just want some time off.
