He's a good OL Coach, and that's why people would want to keep him as such. He hasn't really proven anything as a HC, so he's just as much a gamble as Kirby, but Kirby is a better recruiter and people aren't worried that Kirby might keep dead weight asst coaches on staff.

He's going to retire at Michigan State, he will retire within the next 8 years. His buyout is the highest of any we would have to deal with. I think we're going for someone younger to build long term.

If he was 10 years younger, I would be for it. He will retire within 8 years too, or die within 3 years of a massive heart attack. He made KU relevant in football, won an Orange Bowl, and was a bad arse at player development.

If that happens, most likely that would be right. We have a Highlander Tournament Thread on our board that shows the head-2-head matchups of the different HC candidates.
Right now, Herman is polling highest in the fanbase. If Fuente beats him, I expect Fuente to close the gap. However, that game will be close to our decision time/announcement, so timing could be an issue.

That was speculated on and shot down by the 247 insiders. If the $ and job is right, Herman is ready to make a move now.
Also, take this into consideration. Herman has been in the Top3 candidates for the past 3 weeks. Last week our plane made a trip to Dallas (where our recruitment firm is) and thenan overnight stop in Houston. Then it came back to SC and then went back to College Station for the game. Now today articles are coming out that say Herman is the Lead Candidate for the SC job. Follow the planes. IMO, we've already met/started the vetting process/established contact via our firm with Herman.
