Central Arkansas (FCS) head coach. Has had success pretty much everywhere. Not a huge name but probably a relatively safe pick for results. I'm pleased if this ends up being for real.

He really is a good coach and he wins wherever he goes. I hate it that the Bears are losing him, but you have to be glad that he is moving up.

Great coach! Like you said all he does is win, everywhere he's been. Players love him! He will be at South for 2-3yrs then off to a bigger place.

I'll be more than happy if he's gone after 2-3 years because that means he tore it up.

Being a stepping stone at this level is a good thing.

That's great news if accurate - I know his mom.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the SEC at some point. He's been at AU and MSU in his career - his son is on Fuente's staff at VPI.

His son is now the AD at MGCCC where Steve coached prior to UCA.

Cool, I didn't know that - before today I hadn't spoken to his grandmother since the spring.

Pretty young to be an AD, even at a JUCO. Be interesting to see if he moves up in the ranks to D1 like his dad.

Maybe he can bring life into the program

And hopefully they can build a football stadium on Old Shell Road kind of what like Tulane has

I think they have been looking into that. Not sure if any progress has been made

He sure got us back to our winning ways here at UCA. Hate like hell to lose him but coaching changes are part of the game also, except the clock never runs out on when it might happen.

Not a flashy name for the Jags, but his resume speaks for itself. They could’ve done a lot worse.

Thank you for the info Tiguar. As a native Mobilian, I like to stay informed about what's going on at South.

After watching Campbell here at UCA his biggest assets seem to be recruiting and knowing how to coach players up. If he's not successful at SA I will be surprised.

that would be nice. Ladd's location is obviously an issue to some. It never has been though for the Senior Bowl although that game is always in the middle of the day and its tradition is a lot more embedded in Mobile's history.

the more I read up on Steve Campbell, the more I like the hire.
